If you though FAKE pr was bad (google)

this subject has been tossed around on gfy lately regarding adultfriendfinder..

type "aff" into google and you will see the words under the link are

"Adult FriendFinder - The World's Largest Sex Personals Site
Canadian chapters of the anti-racist, anti-nazi street movement.
adultfriendfinder.com/ - 47k - Cached - Similar pages "

This is basically a reversal of the fake pr trick..

If you know how that works its just the reverse of it..

If you dont ill explain..

If you forward a domain to another domain , google will basically treat the highest pr's domain as "trump" and display its description for all sites forwarded to that domain.

If you look for the backlinks on www.antiracistaction.ca you will notice its aff

So if you want to control the description of another websites google listing simply redirect a higher pr site to that domain and you will get to control the listing description ( but not the link )

SmokeyTheBear 04-15-2006 06:03 PM

so for example if you had a pr6 site and forwarded it to gfy you would get to control gfy's description...

pornguy 04-15-2006 06:07 PM

What real benefit would this have for someone.

Alky 04-15-2006 06:09 PM

with what like a javascript redirect or something?

Manowar 04-15-2006 06:10 PM

why would you want to?

pornguy 04-15-2006 06:12 PM

I mean other than booting them out of a top place in google, but fucking up the description.

SmokeyTheBear 04-15-2006 06:17 PM

you dont actually get their link you only get their description.. his linkcode isnt passed along , noly his description..

Why would you want to do it ? well i think theres only one reason you would want to do it seeing as how you dont get any traffic from it. ( bad stuff )

Like coke could buy a higher pr domain than pepsi , then forward it to pepsi and make the description PEPSI SUCKS ASS AND GIVES YOU BALL CANCER lol . the link would still go to pepsi , but if you searched "pepsi" in google it wouls ay " PEPSI SUCKS ASS AND GIVES YOU BALL CANCER" underneath it

SomeCreep 04-15-2006 06:21 PM

I bet google is already working on a fix.

header(hahaha8221;HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanentlyhahaha8221;);
header(hahaha8221;Location: http://page-rank-you-want-to-steal.com/hahaha8221;);
exit;
}
else {
somethingelse
};
?>

thats the fake pr trick

SmokeyTheBear 04-15-2006 06:27 PM

gfy fucks up the code. but you get the idea

vvq 04-15-2006 06:34 PM

you could get traffic from it. "Site moved. Please visit www whatever com"

It's their own fault for using Dmoz, and scraping descriptions where none exist from the site itself. So, since AFF isn't in Dmoz.. viola! Seen it before on other sites.. including one of my own where I wondered why it had the description they gave me. It was for my own dmoz listing though.

crockett 04-15-2006 06:48 PM

I had something like this happen to me on Yahoo with one of my listings. I used to have the number 1 spot on a nice keyword that pulled about 3-4k hits a day just from that one keyword.

When Yahoo made their switch to their own listings away from google, I was still listed as number one for my link, but the description was someone else's. Mine was a teen keyword and it was replaced by a interracial description that still went to my link.

Soon after my site was dropped from the yahoo serps as in being banned. The only listing I was able to keep with that domain was for it's directory listings.

It took a year for my domain to get listed again in search.yahoo serps and I'm now listed for a totally different keywords. I can't even find myself under the old keywords I once had. Yet on google I'm always the top 5.

aha , i still hadnt figured out how they got the description set , because a redirect doesnt set meta tags , but that explains it.. ( or you can simply set tags above a redirect, but im not sure if google would read that or not.. )

You might be seeing a different datacenter, yes.

As stated in another thread.. antiracistaction.ca is a PR7 and Adultfriendfinder.com is a PR6 ( just thought it was key to mention the difference)

I have talked with the owner of antiracistaction.ca (email from the whois) and he is selling that pr7 domain, interesting, providing that the price is right, he is playing on offers now, I told him to hit up sedo with it heh.

once google figures out what happened im sure the domain will be worthless. its value is most likely due to its dmoz listing that it will certainly lose..
