DAMN I am bored with life!!!!!!!!!!!!

I definitely dont need the money, but maybe i should get a job or start a new project or something because i am constantly bored as hell with my life. i tried to get a few hobbies like gardening (planted some habaneros and a few other veggies and peppers) but it takes like 10 minutes to water plants. what the hell do people do all day that dont "need" to work? :Oh crap

Pure Evil 04-12-2006 01:02 PM

damn. anyone? i swear, all i seem to do now is play on the internet and watch baseball, CSI, Law and Order, or CourtTV. well i do also watch Food, Discovery, History Channel, National Geographic, and a few others. seems like the less i do the more depressed i get. and the more depressed i get, the less i want to do. this sucks

Babagirls 04-12-2006 01:06 PM

i've been thinkin about doin something on the side as well...i get cabin fever real easily. started to take an anti depression pill (st johns wort), its that bad. so i take sunday and mondays off, go walking, shopping, visit family, whatever.

99% of the time i'm either online, watchin tv, or sleeping. not good for any person to do. thats why i started gettin out more.

Subway 04-12-2006 01:07 PM

I had the same problem, always behind the fucking computer and when it was sunny walking in the woods.

Cash is flowing in but missing something, now i'm a mailman for 2 days a week, first pick up the mail, a chitchat with collegues and after that 2 a 4 hour walking. (depends on the mail)

Good for my fat ass, i lost 6 pounds in 2 months, it's nice work to do and the money i get with that job i give to my unemployed girlfriend, so she fucks me better ;)

sounds about like my life Baba. except the doctor put me on something called Effexor XR. supposed to be some kind of mood stabilizer/anti-depressant but all it seems to do is make me more "numb" inside and a little lethargic :(

Get out of the house and do anything.

My attention span is very short...so I try a bunch of different shit until I find something I like and keep doing it.

:2 cents:

maybe you and Baba are right. although i don't think it would help me to be a mailman here in the US, i see what you are saying. maybe i do need to get out more. come to think of it, i do have some trees and brush that need to be cut down where the gazebo and firepit are going to go. maybe i'll see if my wrist is up to playing with the chainsaw yet.

I cannot understand anyone who is bored with living. There's so many different things of interest.

well then help me out and recommend some stuff. i have already accomplished most of what i wanted to and i tend to get bored easily and depressed even easier

Cyrano 04-12-2006 01:26 PM

Try reading a good book, that's what I do to escape the vicious cycle of life.

i know wha you mean. my attention span is extremely short unless i enjoy what i am doing immensely. i am constantly having to change and diversify the things in my life to try to maintain interest. i hate that

i did read a few good books a while back and still do occasionally, but its hard to find a book that captures my undivided attention. mostly i have turned to Stephen King's short stories.

The less you do, the more you get depressed.
When you do something (walking, fitness, swimming) you feel better.

Sitting at home will kill your brains for sure and treat yourself well when you feel bad.

Depression sucks, i know all about it. Being active is a medicine.

Nismo 04-12-2006 01:50 PM

Join a gym and go on a regular basis, start mountain biking once a week, shoot pool once a week, learn a new programming language, start an offline business, so many things to do...

tyler. 04-12-2006 01:51 PM

i usually go to the gym 4-5 times a week, mountain biking sounds fun, i used to shoot pool for hours every day and then started competing in tourneys (im a bit rusty now, which can be frustrating), i've had to learn so many "new" programming languages over the years i hate it now. i have seriously been considering an offline business venture though. i think that would be a great distraction :thumbsup

i try to play golf every now and then, but i have a wicked slice and it can make the game extremely frustrating. been thinking about hitting the driving range more but haven't yet. i am thinking seriously about making a putting green and sand trap in the back yard though (got plenty of room)

dave_w 04-12-2006 02:03 PM

are you going to xbiz? thatd be a way to get out

JuiceMonkey 04-12-2006 02:16 PM

sometimes I wish I had that problem :)

heh

Why don't you take up a sport? Or get some buddies who don't work :)

Trixxxia 04-12-2006 02:26 PM

I know someone in a similar situation - Effexor XR hasn't really improved anything and it's been a couple of years now. Was told that he should try to switch to Wellbutrin - we'll see what that will do.

My suggestions:
Learn a new language
Take cruises (short stays, won't allow you to fall in love with the place and want to buy a house ;) )
Volunteer to a cause you believe in
Wake up - take a shower and take a fresh air walk in the morning, give your mind time to think and settle your thoughts. Sleeping, watching tv, staying away from people helps feed the 'depression' or the sluggish mood.

dunefield 04-12-2006 02:33 PM

smoke dope all day... that'll keep your mind off reality...

pstation 04-12-2006 02:37 PM

buy WoW, problem solved

I'd considered that for a while too - getting a part time job just to get me out more. spending life behind a screen gets boring quickly imo

being a family man helps alot. seeing your baby wake up each morning with a smile on his face...watch tv with wife and kids...etc

priceless :thumbsup

Wordsforhire 04-12-2006 03:21 PM

I feel the same although I have to work as there never seems to ne "enough" cash when a baby comes along. Always something needing bought lol, oh and of course I need to fund my shoe collection.

I started going out walking and stuff, although ts boring by yourself its good for you. I get bored very easily. Working at home leaves you with very little to do except work...It gets mundane but find something like a sports club or read a book.

I love reading books but I am not a fan of typical books. Pick up some Laurell K Hamilton and Christine Feehan and spanking that monkey of yours wont be boring for much longer ;)
