Amazing work - but the sad thing is most people (non-artists) wouldn't appreciate the time and labour that went in to it. It would be 'just another image' to most.

As both a photographer and graphic artist myself...I can't see why someone would spend so much labour creating something that elaborate. Sure, it looks great - but 15,000+ layers worth? Yeowch!

that's what I was kind of wondering... it says he spent 2000 hours creating this. It's complex and realistic, but not really 'photo realistic' by any means; it's a nice illustration but doesn't really seem to be approaching 'fine art' in any traditional sense; I wonder if this was just a practice piece of some sort that grew very complex. Nice work though.

Exactly...perhaps an obsession of some kind.

There's no denying the image is really well done - but when it needs a few paragraphs of descriptive elaboration to describe every aspect of the project...I'd say it missed its mark.

I guess its a subjective thang.
