Any fights? I don't know why I am asking, because I hate the fights. Good hockey doesn't need that.

There was a pretty good one tonight against the Fylers and the Penguins

"Flyers enforcer Donald Brashear and Pittsburgh's Eric Cairns squared off in the third period immediately after both players left the penalty box, with Brashear landing a few solid shots early in the fight. Brashear got a rousing ovation as he returned to the penalty box and exchanged high-fives with some fans."

They're not mathematically eliminated yet, but they're pretty much are.

Since Tampa lost last night, Toronto still has a chance of taking the final playoff spot in the east.

Toronto has to win all of their remaining games (4).
Tampa has to lose all of theirs (3).

It's unlikely, but you never know. Would be a great come-back if they made it, and heavy fuel to motivate them in the playoffs.

The regular seems has become so boring to me. :( I used to love hockey.

Tanker 04-12-2006 07:06 AM

actually, if tampa loses all 3 the leafs only need to win 3. If the leafs win all 4 then tampa must win 2. Tampa has 89 points and 3 games, toronto has 84 points and 4 games.

seeric 04-12-2006 08:37 AM

the lightning are not gonna lose all three. no way. they've been playing really good.

Evil Chris 04-12-2006 08:38 AM

Tampa can actually win one if TO wins all of theirs.

JuiceMonkey 04-12-2006 08:43 AM

yeah Toronto is out though tbay just needs one win or toronto to lose one...

Canucks have a HUGE game coming up here.. if they can win 2 in a row they are in IMO

Phoenix 04-12-2006 09:04 AM

im not sure..i think the leafs still have a chance..depending on Tampa...hard to say as i heard it through the radio while lying in bed this morning

Bryan G 04-12-2006 09:17 AM

That was one of the best games I have Never seen. Fucking missed it, but seen the highlights. Holy fuck!!

Dollarmansteve 04-12-2006 09:19 AM

Grade 4 math class time.

Tampa Bay has 89 points with 3 games (6 points) remaining. Therefore:

TB 0 W = 89 or 0 points
TB 1 W = 91 or 2 points
TB 2 W = 92 or 4 points

Toronto has 84 points with 4 games (8points) remaining. Therefore:

T 3W = 90 or 6 points
T 4W = 92 or 8 points

So, as you can see, the following combinations allow the leafs to make the playoffs:

TB 0W - T 3W or 4W
TB 1W - T 4W

If Toronto loses two or tampa wins 2 or gets 1 win and a tie/OTL (3 points), then the leafs are elimiated. Tampa will have more victories than toronto if they both end up with 92 points or 91 points so they take any tie breaker.

Also factored in is Atlanta, but that's a different story.
