Building Viral FLASH Games to market your site?

Assuming you have access to very cost-effective Flash animation professionals, would designing and making flash games that can be easily passed on to friends a good way to virally promote your service/product site?

Perhaps if the focus of the game is both to educate the consumer as well as offer value to his social network maybe this would "prequalify" a large pool of users and result in targeted clicks?

Step 1: Distribute from your site and have downloaders pass it on to friends.
Step 2: Submit to free flash games sites to distribute to their visitors.

Your thoughts.

It's a good plan, but I don't know if it would work for adult sites - many people may not want to forward them on to work colleagues because of sexual harrassment stuff, and may not want to forward them on to friends because, well, they don't want people to know they like porn.

It's probably worth a shot though - I don't think it's been tried before.

I can attest that it works well for mainstream IF you can get the theme of the game to naturally flow with and promote the idea/theme/product at hand... Otherwise, you won't get much benefit other than making a bunch of nerds happy.

Re theme: True. Plus, the old issue of Branding versus Qualification.

Gene do you have access to a low cost animator? This is crazy because I just had an idea for a site (last night) and I would need one animation a week...about 15 seconds....Haven't found a cheap to reasonably priced way of doing it so far today.

its a perfect idea... but it would cost alot of money for a game to be made.

I'd be interested in this for some mainstream sites. If you're offering such a service, please let me know.

Definitely.

People have done this successfully.

Viral is the ultimate leverage.

It's not the idea. It's the execution and implementation technologies/management systems that make the difference.
