whens the best time to buy an airline ticket?
i once heard something about there being better times to buy an airline ticket. something like 3 weeks before you fly is better than 4 weeks before you buy etc...
anyone know anything like this? |
I've always thought that the further out the better, but who knows.
|
Sometime before you actually need to fly somewhere.
|
months before you decide to go on holiday/your trip!
|
The longer in advance I think is best, otherwise its about 3-4 weeks or standby for domestic flights (high risk though).

the further out the better. 8-10 weeks if possible.
|
The further out the better, always. Same goes for hotels.
Unless there is a special event that they have setup to up the rates on, i.e. the Kentucky Derby. Then you're gonna get raped no matter how far out you do it, its just a matter of how painful and forceful your rape will be. |

There can be many variants. Especially when it comes to international ticket sales. Airlines usually like to have a particular percentage of seats sold by a certain date on international, sometimes when there is a lull in sales the airline may quickly release 50 tickets per flight say on two weeks of flights for quick sale, and this is when the real savings are to be had. It happens over here in Australia alot and you can save up to 60% on a flight. You usually have to pay for these tickets immediately or within 3 days and that does depend on the airline company.
:pimp |
wait till spring break is over, prices are very jacked up right now
|
the best time to call to reserve a flight is at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Wednesdays. Why? Because, 99 percent of airlines adjust their fares at midnight tuesday. Now, this only applies inside a certain window, but about 22-28 days in advance is just about the best time.

as the only person with a real answer for you here it is:
the best time to buy an airline ticket? - when you are happy with the price. - for the best pricing, it depends on the airline and/or the agent you are booking through, what rates you can get, how you pay and of course the dates. |

and mrizzz, are you always accepting link trades with your tgp? |
6 months - 2.5 years ahead of time.
|
usually get tickets about a month in advance....never had yet to get tix a week in advance
|
Best deals arrive and depart around wed. Avoid weekend arrival/depart. Book 4 weeks in advance for your sanity :)
