i have a spyware problem, ever hear of fastfinddomain.net ?
 

i was surfing an mgp and got slammed. Next thing you know one of sherms galleries keep redirecting to specific keywords on google, mostly dating keywords, and a couple of mgps, only one of which i recognized, But only on my pc. Im trying to figure out who fastfind domain is and second why they are redirecting to google with specific keywords.
any help would be greatly appreciated in outing this scumbag.

Yup, i had the redirect to google as well. Took me ages to get rid of it.

I have had to format because of some damn shit I got off of a gallery once. Hope it doesn't get to that level.

hijackthis would be able to identify the variant and allow you to delete it - should be available doing a google search

Spy Bot gets rid of it also or if you would rather do an online virus removal. Trend Micro gets rid of it http://housecall.trendmicro.com/. Make sure you close all explorer windows and delete your temp files first.

Bump for Duke ... ANy idea how these assholes target specific domains? It worries me a bit that my galleries are redirecting some people to google. :(

I would recomend a nice format of the hard drive. Its a good thing to do once or twice a year anyways. Oh yeah, and stop using Internet Explorer!!!

click start >all programs >accesorries >system tools >system restore.


Restore to an earlier date from when you started to notice the problem.

Dig around in IE folders. There should be a file that contains ?sites? .. That what causing it redirect from google.

I would recommend finding those responsible for installs (doesn't have to be this particular one) and making a pretty harsh example of them. As more and more scumware installers realise they would prefer to keep their balls/ eyesight/ fingers, installs will become less of a problem.

In the short term, download and pay for something like PCTools' Spyware Doctor. Used in conjunction with a Google search for the specific problem you should be fine and shouldn't have to reinstall your OS or reformat.

Boot to safe mode with networking so that you can take care of things.

spyware is the biggest pain the ass!

i think i got something similar to that. i used (and still using) spyware sweeper!

He left out the part about making a restore point. But that should fix your problem.

I hate when that happens..I usually run 2 spyware programs every day because it is getting out of control

Tip for photographers, designers, content producers, etc ... Keep your money maker off-line.

I have an older mac that has nothing important on it, just the operating system. Worst case I buy a new hard-drive for 75 bucks, reinstall OS, keep surfing. Nothing important is ever exposed.

The best combo to get rid of the shit is to run:

Spybot Search and destroy THEN run
Ad-aware from lavasoft REBOOT then run
HiJack-this and find any last traces of the shit in there...

If it continues you might have to reboot and go into safe mode and then run HiJack this...

This is how I was able to clean up about 90% of the machines at my last day job as a PC tech... I was doing about 5-8 machines a week for awhile...

The people who produce this shit should be SHOT!
