I must be insane - I got a second puppy (pics)
 

Me apparently. We were always going to look for a playmate for Parker sometime in the near future but I didn't expect it to be in the same week. However, a lady whose litter I had asked about a while back called me late last week to say that a buyer had backed out for one of her female puppies because they were now moving somewhere that couldn't have dogs and wanted to know if I was still interested.

Well, I figured I mineaswell get this puppy stuff over with both of them at the same time.

So, this is 8 week old Maggie (short for Magenta). She is a tricolour Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. When we first picked her up she was shaking like a leaf and I was afraid she was going to be too timid but it is just starting into her second full day with us and currently she is beating up Parker on the floor next to me (it was Parker's turn yesterday) so I think we are going to be okay. She looks so small and cute but I see some real attitude brewing in those eyes for the future.

lol true. Problem is they don't know that. I caught Parker (the pug) dragging the cage with Maggie in it across the floor with her teeth this morning.

Two babies are always better than one. They have someone to play with when you are out :thumbsup

Looks like a couple of best buddies in the making:)

Dogs are like people, some are social, others prefer alone and quiet. My old girl I had almost 18 years (she died New Years Eve 3 years ago) would play with my sister's dogs a bit but preferred to just kick back with the people. She was everyone's rotten little princess so she wouldn't have appreciated a housemate:1orglaugh

The 2 little anklenippers I have now are another story. They are father/daughter and even though they have their jealous moments they love being together. Katrina traumatized them and they are even closer now. I can peek in on them at night and they will be curled up together. The boy dog (daschund) was 3 when I got him, behavior problems, grumpy and not very affectionate. Post Katrina he loves on me and kisses and acts like we are best friends all along:upsidedow They have been an excellent "security system", nobody moves anywhere around the surrounding houses without them announcing their prescence:thumbsup

When my old dog was declining I had decided I was going to wait awhile after I lost her before taking on another but as it turned out I ended up with the boy dog shortly before she died and his daughter a few weeks later and it was the best thing that could have happened. I will probably always try to have 2 from now on.

That's a couple lucky little doggies there, couldn't have ended up with a better "mama"... spoil them well and enjoy!:upsidedow

I really wish I had bought 2 dogs when I got my labrador 2 years ago. It would give him something to do all day and maybe burn some of that energy he has.

Maggie is adorable! Looks like those two pups are gonna give you a lot of fun in the future.

Those little guys are so adorable!!! OMG!!! Enjoy every moment with them, I'm sure they will bond nicely. Our cats have bonded, it took some time, but now they all sleep in a snuggle pile literally hugging one another. :)

Yeah I moved my work computer downstairs to the living room where they are for a bit so I can have my eye on them. You have no idea how happy I was when they slept next to each other on the floor for the first time. It was the first bit of silence I had all day.
