I think the spam gets worse every day, it doesn't matter what kind of junk mail software I use, I have been thinking of not using mail anymore.

I use a yahoo account for my main email and have been doing it for years...Most of the spam goes to the spam folder..

The next great web app will be secure email, where the identity of the sender and the destination are secured before the mail can move. No matter what the increase in overhead would be, it would be less bandwidth and network intensive than the current pile of crap coming through mail.

My mailbox (FILTERED) is still 80-90% spam every day. (as I type, 3 new massages come in: We cure any desease! Career opportunity from Quadrum Inc. and WOW in TheBEDROOM... ). Mail was the original internet killer app, and now it is the single most useless thing on my desktop.

A properly configured copy of SpamAssasaign, with the proper plugins / filters, and proper use of the 'learn spam' function will result in zero spam. I watch the stats on my mailserver - about 99% of spam is caught (about 300 emails a day)..

The other day my Paypal account got limited because my credit card on file had expired, and they sent me an email saying something like:
Dear Czarina ****** (last name): your account blah blah blah...

I thought it was phishing, so I sent them a nasty email telling them even the price of tea in China, because they had sold my real name to someone, and now it was being used by a spammer...

and duh, they responded... the email was legit!

accually e-mail spam are going down worldwide - because the spammers has got a much harder job to make money to live off.

Donny, spamarrest in the end is actually worse than the cause. Every spam mail generates a "confirm" mail, that bounces around and generates bounces, annoys the innocent people who had their addresses joe-jobbed, and generally waste more than it solves. It is a massive ugly bandaid on the gaping wound of a useless, open email system that permits and encourages 100% spoofed headers, information, and such. Blocking it at the very end is an overwhelming job that rarely works.

It might work to an extent, but it really isn't the solution to the problem.
