Republican officials' incestuous relations with voting machines

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2006/04/04/171505.php

'I'm not usually big on the mere "appearance of impropriety" stuff, but this really does look bad. The Secretary of State gets a sweetheart deal for Diebold to sell voting machines, and their people are hosting big fundraisers for the Bush re-election campaign- for which this SoS was state chairman, among other things. MAYBE there's nothing wrong here at all, but this is a half dozen kinds of incestuous at best.'

worst thing about it is, that nobody doesn't seem to care or isn't able to do anything about it, nice democracy you've got then :error

Well Jeb Bush won't be able to rig elections for his brother because W can't run again and Jeb will be out of office in Jan 2007 anyways. I like to see how the GOP is going to rig the machines to make us all believe that Bill Frist actually won a presdiential election.

it's really sad to see John McCain pimp himself these last few weeks

I mean, shouldn't he be able to run the table as presidential candidate against any democrat, but I guess he has fewer fans at the GOP than at the DMC

See I'd actually vote for McCain. He SHOULD have been the GOP nominee in 2000, but Bush bashed him and questioned his patriotism because he was a POW in Vietnam. This is the type of guy we have in the White House. A guy that questions the patriotism of guys who actually went to Nam. McCain, Gore and Kerry all were in Nam in some fashion Bush never even showed up for Guard duty in Alabama and somehow idiots thinks HE's the kind of President to lead us in wartime.

The same thing happened here in Venezuela. The national electoral council (run by a bunch of Chavez sympathizers) spent a bunch of millions buying automated machines from Smartmatic.Chavez wins everything.
Then a few months later the president of the electoral council is seen in NY with the guys from smartmatic and going on thousand dollar shopping sprees and shit.Fishy to say the least.
No wonder the government refused to do a recount after the recall referendum on chavez.Even after weeks of protests which they decided to supress with the national guard.
I`d rather vote by hand any day.

I hate to tell you but Jeb is going to be the front runner in 2012 or 2016. That's when nukes will fly. Dubya has fucked up the country so bad that whoever takes over will have a terrible time and the reps will just blame for everything. At the end of whatever term no matter how good it goes they'll rig another election and Jeb will be the man.

It's his pay back for 2000.

The way the economy is going there will be record foreclosures in 2010 or so because interest rates will rise and the dollar will be so week that we can't buy needed resources.

Anyone that doesn't believe me can take me up on a discussion around then. They're probably the same people that said I was wrong in 2000 when I said gas would hit $3, we'd go to war (probably in Iraq) and declare a victory the summer before the election. Summer didn't start until June 21 and we declared a victory around June 1 so I was off a bit.

Agree. Some institutions and infrastracture will collapse or have to be dismantled. At this point, it's not the basic question of "if", but simply "when?"... from which must immediately follow, "where will you be then?"

What's not to trust about a voting machine that has no paper/hard copy and openly keeps two sets of records?
