Inground Pool Owners....

How much did your pool cost (including everything/installation, etc)?
I'm trying to get an idea.

MandyBlake 04-08-2006 05:45 PM

now i KNOW some of you have inground pools! :)

LittleMack 04-08-2006 05:46 PM

The cost in my part of Florida with all construction, filters, etc...was around 17,000.

Pure Evil 04-08-2006 05:47 PM

just under $23,000

czarina 04-08-2006 05:59 PM

ours was about 22K, with a little jaccuzzi "attached" to it

MikeVega 04-08-2006 06:03 PM

just the pool with heater ... not the patio around it was about $26k .. i think it's 18x36

MandyBlake 04-08-2006 06:15 PM

MikeSmoke 04-08-2006 06:17 PM

juve20 04-08-2006 06:19 PM

depends on size etc right

Linkster 04-08-2006 06:54 PM

around 20x40 with curves was just over 28k including the easy concrete work - other stuff was a little more on the side and the fence was just over $3k and many days of work :)

Mandy, if you're thinking about getting one in ATL, talk to a RE agent first. Most of the time an inground pool will actually LOWER the value of your home when you go to sell. If it doesn't lower it, it's rare if not impossible to recoup the money you spent on a pool when you resell. If you don't mind the money situation, and just want a pool in your backyard, please ignore all previous comments ;)

Note: this is only my experience in the ATL area - I'm sure different locations are completely different :)

Why would a pool lower the value of your home?

pornguy 04-09-2006 10:10 AM

the best time to have apool built is right before the last warm days. the companies wont be doing much work, and will cut you a break on the price, as it will help them through the slower winter months. if you do it in spring or summer, you will pay, because the crews that build are being spread thinner by more pools being built.

No clue on that rationality, it certainly raises it here in AZ. I've got a decent size pool with most of the equipment upgrades and it was 29k. All I can say is if you spend a little more to get the pop up heads cleaning system it makes life so easy.

JimmiDean 04-09-2006 11:50 AM

33 CDN, thats a free form salt water pool, out building (bar) 6 feet on interlock all the way around dive board and heat pump.
Just make sure you get a company that has been around a long time.
Nice to know they will still be in bizz to hounor the warranty if required.

its a liability if someone drowns, a lot of parents dont want their kids wandering into the pool in the backyard, costs money to upkeep, etc, etc.

Pools are the only way to live, get a gate if your worried about safety. My house had a pool when I bought it, but neighbor got one with a waterfall and hot tub for 30k

MichaelP 04-09-2006 12:08 PM

Depends on Size and location..

Our setup costed something around 30K with the attached Jaccizzi and Water heater... You need to Plan for Fencing if your yeard is not fenced yet (in and around 5K) Plus a place to put filtration system. you don't want to leave it outside...

Our pool cost 22k but then we had to pay 4k for the screen enclosure.
:)

Peaches 04-09-2006 12:31 PM

Like I said, many times it depends on where you are :)

Yeah I guess if you are in a climate that has a very short swim season I can see how a prospective buyer could see them as more of a hassle.
