Bush impeachment starting?

RANDOLPH, Vermont (Reuters) - Democratic Party leaders in Vermont on Saturday passed a motion asking Congress to immediately begin impeachment proceedings against President Bush.

madawgz 04-08-2006 04:49 PM

finally, fuck yeah!

Ordo 04-08-2006 05:06 PM

Why does this shit always go down two years before the end of a term when it takes two years to get anything done anyway??

Thats what pisses me off.

tony286 04-08-2006 05:14 PM

unless the 2006 election go well for the Dems it will never happen. Also when most news is so far to the right in the fight to out fair and balance each other.

G-Rotica 04-08-2006 05:15 PM

They can ask all they want. It'll never happen. Unfortunatley.

Damian_Maxcash 04-08-2006 05:21 PM

I dont know how all this works - does this actually mean anything?

I hope it does - as its on the Iraq war we could get our fuckwit PM on the same thing.

LittleMack 04-08-2006 05:28 PM

That is a very Liberal state legislature that has no jurisdiction over congress as a whole...it is just a protest vote...dont get too excited

nico-t 04-08-2006 05:49 PM

i dont think this means anyhting... if he'd be inpeached it wouldve happened a few years ago already.. way too late.

Snake Doctor 04-08-2006 06:05 PM

That'll only happen if the dems take control of the house AND the senate in 2006

Even then they wouldn't have the 2/3 necessary to vote him out, but they could embarrass the fuck out of him like the republicans did to Clinton.

You may want to check out CNN and espeically MSNBC these days.

MSNBC execs were against too much anti-Republican honesty until they saw how much money those shows were starting to make. Now they have the green light to say what they want, and it's making for some good TV.

Lou Dobbs' new show on CNN I found to be a bit stunning in his brutal honesty of the government. This guy says things on TV that only alternative news sites have been saying.

Hardball with Chris Matthews has been getting more and more honest also. You can tell he's going to blow eventually and become a loose cannon.

Then there is Countdown with Keith Olbermann, who has all but said that Bush rigged the last election.

MSNBC spent signifigant time (entire shows) on the Bush leak story, but FOX was only reporting on it for 15-20 seconds in passing like it was nothing. So it appears that MSNBC is now to Dems what FOX is to neocons, the only difference is one is actually telling the truth.

Babagirls 04-08-2006 08:02 PM

now with that leak thats been exposed (that Bush did), i think that was the last straw. And so it begins.....

The 'Leak' wasnt illegal - if Bush authorised it then by default it became 'declassified'. Its one of his many powers - he can declassify anything any time he likes.

Linkster 04-08-2006 10:32 PM

Actually - the declassification wouldnt be what they would impeach for - it would either be the disclosure of a cia agents name(which is a completely different law and cant be declassified no matter what - even by the prez) or they will do the same thing they did to Clinton and go down the path of Bush's lying to the public(the public trust issue of the constitution is pretty specific) when he was talking about firing the originator of the leak all the while knowing it was himself

czarina 04-09-2006 12:16 AM

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

President Bush is the 'Teflon' president. Nothing sticks to him. They can talk about impeachment all they want but so far legally he's been clean as a whistle and faultless to a 'T'. There's never been a president with as many accusations against him than GWB. He's been blamed for everything from two elections, two wars, hurricanes, tornadoes, global warming, athlete's feet etc.

Yet no major motions have ever been initiated that amounted to anything. He'll finish out his term, pass on the torch to one of his brothers and call it a fucking day.

Get used to it. He's gonna walk, write a book, get a library and some military craft named after him and grow an old fat rich man. He's still so young he'll be around for another 50 years talking about how he saved the free world from terrorism.

Correct. The President has final say as to what will be classified and declassified. It's been that way since I don't know when. Even if he did accidently name a CIA agent he won't get impeached. The American People are unconcerned with it.

Now if he had gotten a blow job the American People would have been up in arms. It's okay to fuck up national security but get a blow job? Fuck no! Get the rope and tar and feathers!

Nice try though you liberal fucking douchebag.

Matt 26z 04-09-2006 03:48 AM

The question is, do we want to risk having Dick Cheney as our president? If he took over power, that could also build momentum for him to run in 2008.

I'd only be for impeaching Bush if they could take Cheney down with him.

I'm sure it actually went Rove > Bush > Cheney > Libby > Reporters

Or any hope of winning if he had an interest...

He's the v.p. because Bush wanted a business guy that had money and
knew how to sneak outside of the box to benefit Bush and himself..

And remember.. he has no further ties with Haliburton.. Which is why they get all of the no-bid contracts.. Funny..

Not a chance in Hell for becoming the potus..

First off - If you knew me you would know that Im far from liberal and after serving in the US military for 12 years of my life I totally resent a scumbag teenybopper sigwhore who is probably 30 years younger than me even coming close to trying to dis me - but it did give me a great fucking laugh over coffee

As far as the "guy in trouble" you might want to do some research before you post BS
"According to court papers filed late Wednesday by Patrick J. Fitzgerald ? the special prosecutor investigating the leak of ex-CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity to the press ? Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, testified that, in the summer of 2003, his then-boss told him Bush had personally approved the leak of a highly classified National Intelligence Estimate to Judith Miller, then a reporter for the New York Times."

Cheney would make a fine President. Nothing sticks to him either. His health may be the major blocking point though but with these new stem cell treatments who knows he may be back to normal in no time. Look at singer Don Ho. Went to Thailand last December and is back jamming on the stage after being at death's door.

Absolutely ridiculous.

1. Vermont state officials have no jurisdiction/ authority.

2. You don't impeach a President because you don't like his policies. Impeachment is for "high crimes and misdemeanors," such as Clinton's lying to a grand jury, perjury, subornation of perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, filing a false affidavit, etc..

Bush is doing his best to protect US.

You are talking about a guy who decieved and lied to the people who elected him - and continued to lie even after everyone knew what he said was untrue. And... bet ya ask Cheney today - he would still continue his spewage of lies, but never ever giving any foundation for them.

Fine President's are made of better stuff and have some credibility and honor.

Puleeeze! It's been 6 years already and Bush and Cheney ain't got pinched for shit yet. Every other fucking day someone comes up with a new charge or accusation and don't squat happen. He's almost got 2 years to go and you think they'll try to pin something on him after all this time? If they did it would be too late anyway. The damage is already done. There's no way in hell a Democrat is going to win the next election because they're all pussies and would end up taxing us to death for social program shit.

The next Republican President will pardon Bush and Cheney and that will be fucking that.

The time to bust Bush should have been after the first election, after the minute they didn't find WMD in Iraq. Nobody did shit so fuck it, he walks. Even if he was guilty to accuse him of shit now and initiate something shows the opposition is too slow, too incompetent or just vindictive.

Get used to it, Liberals lost because they don't have the balls to fight back.

Greg... to be honest it's past the stage of political leanings. I don't really care who is in power, be they conservative, democrat or communist.

Least for me, it has *everything* to do with fairly serving the people who elected them and conducting the biz of government in a competent manner for the benefit of the nation as a whole.

This current US Admin have got to be the worst (not sure about the worst in US history), but certainly the worst within a long time.

They have proven themselves to be very incompetent at managing the US and have literally locked themselves into a political closet in the Whitehouse and avoid any public appearances unless there is an agenda where they may be losing. Then they send out the closet team to appear on television and spew garbage.

Admins who operate on the basis of closet politics and secrecy are not democratic admins.

The flip side is, - almost all current US politicians (tho there are many good men there) are an utter disgrace to the electorate - irrespective of their political views. It may be the Admin who supposed to be taking the lead and open to most criticism, but they sure are not supported by qualified, strong partners in houses of govt.

It also does not help when a government/nation is sharply split over political leanings. Bottom line - it's all bullshit and not in the interests of the nation as a whole.

On the current Admin, their problems are of their own making. When ya make a judgement and it turns out widely distorted (whether intentional or not), there is always a payback time and shit comes back to haunt ya. It can never actually be swept under the carpet as a "mistake".

On the "management" side, it could not be worse - but got a feeling we are gonna see far worse yet.

Since George took office he has rarely addressed any domestic issues with any success. The economy is the worst ever, - the same can he said for health, education and down the list. The international reputation of the US could prob not be lower.

Although the admin likes to portray an image of protecting the US - basically they can't. No government on this planet can protect against eg acts of terrorism. The concept that "we are under threat" is used (abused) by the admin to create paranoia - as tho the US was the first country on the planet to experience terrorism.

It's also astounding that the US government appears incapable of even aiding their own citizens in disaster relief and restoring their own territory back to an operational status after a hurricane. Third world countries have recovered quicker - and collected the bodies from under the rubble.

Hell.. save writing all this shit... Here's a list of "achievements" from another thread....

~First president in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.

~In his first two years in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs.

~Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history.

~Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market.

~Cut the taxes of the wealthiest people in America (those making over $200,000 a year).

~Members of Bush Administration are the richest administration in history.

~First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in U.S. history.

~Cut unemployment benefits for more out-of-work Americans than any president in U.S. history.

~Dissolved more international treaties than any president in U.S. history.

~Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases.

~First president in U.S. history to attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.

~Took the biggest world sympathy for the U.S. after 9/11, and in less than a year, made the U.S. the most resented country in the world.

~First U.S. president in history to have a majority of people in Europe (over 70%) view his presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.

~In the 18 months following the 9/11 attacks, he has successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.

Whether you agree/dispute these points, it still remains an utter disaster area. It's hard to say the actual government at this time have the interests of the US people at heart. It's almost as tho they are hell bent on obliterating the US.

Bottom line... a massive load of damage been done and there will be a payback time. It will be paid for by the US taxpayer, the lives of people in other countries, US forces serving abroad, by those swindled out of pensions etc etc. Got little doubts there will be some mass lifestyle changes as well resulting from the baggage left over by this admin.

Do Bush and Cheney matter? Not really - this happened on their watch and suspect there will be repercussions, - but otherwise they are not relevant. The damage far supercedes the relevance of a few individuals.

Forget personalities in politics - they all bullshit and lie - it's who manages a country with some competence that matters. Competence is something severely lacking at this time.

Perhaps you would like to point out anything in Fitzgerald?s report which says that Bush had anything to do with releasing information about Valerie Plame. He has acknowledged releasing information from the National Intelligence Estimate (which is his right as President), but this has absolutely nothing to do with Valerie Plame. If you want to spout misinformation it is always best to have the facts you wish to manipulate straight.

Webby those 'factoids' sound like the usual dug up complaints of anyone in office.

So what he and his friends may have gotten rich. What? They're supposed to get poor? When you have the high ground take it.

Oh, they cut the taxes of those making over $200k a year? Well history shows when those making that and more used to be taxed like 70% to cover the asses of those who couldn't keep their legs closed and their pants on.

$200k a year ain't rich. It's doing well, but it ain't rich unless you save it for like 5 years and then you better hold on to it.

Most hated president? Please. Every president we get is hated by somebody. People blame the president for everything from the weather to hemorroids.

Europe has a problem with the president and America? Well then next time they fuck up and let dictators run all over them then hows about we just stay home this time. We rescued their asses twice in one century. Maybe we should start a UN agreement that no Europeans can stay up all fucking night drinking booze and coffee and instead learn how to vote.

Maybe you think this is all about fair play and God and justice or some such nonsense. It's about his gang is bigger and stronger than the other gangs. His gang is smarter and faster than the other gangs. This isn't about governing anything it's about maintaining the illusions of duty and safety that the majority of Americans have to have to justify their laziness and greed and bigotry. As long as he's waving that flag and saying hot words like 'God' and 'Jesus' and 'freedom' he fuels the pacification that keeps the cowardly quiet til their next assfucking. What amount of brilliance does it take to figure that shit out?

Penn & Teller's "Bullshit!" show on Showtime is what you should be watching.

Yeah, like Europe is some kind of guiding light to wisdom. Every 30 years some psychotic racist asshole shows up and we have to go blow up shit. Now that mentality has festered up here at home and the rest of us are still trying to clean up their shit.

Bush is president, he won TWICE. Whether he did so dishonestly hasn't been proven in any court of law anywhere. He's spent untold billions invading countries and playing 'Army Men'. It's his prerogative as commander-in-chief. If the majority of the people didn't like it his ass wouldn't be in office. That says that a majority of people are making good loot off his policies and fuck everybody else.

That's the American way. Wuss ass liberal pundits who want your money to pay for someone else's stupidity while the upper crust liberals act like plantation owners and psychotic, violent, delusional and superstitious conservatives who want to keep their money so that the people they fucked over can't get strong enough to fight back.

How fucking simple an equation is that?

So if the psychotics have the high ground it's all our fault for letting them. It's not like there isn't enough history to show us. Same with the liberals. If they were in office they would be in the same shit with the same claims.

Humans can be greedy, psychotic, assclowns.

Live with it.

Na... these "factoids" are fact and some cannot be applied to any President of the US ever - other than than George.

It's not really about him or his friends getting "rich" - who gives a toss about their wealth. It's about em totally fucking the country up and continuing to do so on a daily basis.

It's only a matter of time before payback - it's started already and little doubts it's gonna cost the US more than thought possible. You can't permanently live off credit cards and have the largest debts on the planet - it don't work like that.

Also.. I don't "hate" George as an individual (or anyone), but it don't take a blind man to see where the country he supposed to be managing is going - rapidly downwards. George is just George - totally incompentent all of his life and nada clue on much.

The nasty bit is everyone else in the US is gonna end up paying for his fuckups and it's most likely going to take decades to pay off. Others have already paid with their lives for his lack of judgement.

It's obvious now that no country in the western world - even if you lump a few together - have the same problems brewing as the US currently has.

Sure.. I can live with it - it's not messing in my personal life. At the same time it's a damned pity to see this crap happening - even more people will end up being screwed economically and in other ways because of total incompentence.

PS... Na... Never seen Penn and Teller and doubt I missed much. They got ads promoting pharma companies where the voiceover talks quick warning of the side effects from cancer, bleeding stomach and hell knows what else? That's always good for a smile. :)
