Juice / Lemonade diets. Anyone ever done one?
I keep hearing mixed reviews.
|
Hint all starvation diets make you loose weight. None however help you learn how to keep it off.
|
I agree with you on that, but I keep hearing this is for "cleansing" more than weight loss.
|
Take an enema and be done with it.

Now before you answer, really think about it and ask yourself would this really work knowing how the body works? I mean I have heard of people even slowly swallowing a piece of string for a few days until the start of it passes out their ass, then the cut the piece that is dangling from their mouths. This too is to "cleanse" the system. Would you also do this? |

No. In all honesty, it isn't me doing it. I don't particularly have a weight issue. I have a friend that started it a few days ago. I advised against, but many people told me I was wrong and said it was not a starvation thing but more a well accepted method...etc. I am not a diet expert, however I tend to do a low carb diet and a lot of people say that is idiotic. |

I will not lie, the past few days has gotten me to consider because a lot of people out there say exactly what you say.... Did you feel weak ever? |
Juice diets are for idiots. They deprive your body of basic nutrients and cause muscle loss. Apart from that, your body actually does not need to be "cleansed" if you just eat a normal, healthy diet including enough water and fibers.

i do it strictly because of my lifestyle and the will to live longer because of it. the first 3 days of the detox are designed to re-balance your ph within your stomach and digestive system. the final four are the detoxificiation and liver cleansing process. i can actually send you some advices from my past experiences that will save you some grief. the great part about it is you dont really eat more than one small meal, (pice of chicken breast steamed with salad greens and OJ. during the day if you get hungry you are encouraged to eat unsalted nuts and organic fruit. its slightly a pain in the ass to get used to having the things around that you normally don't i did not get hungry during the cleanse. maybe a very little in the evening. its designed to use the food and or toxins that are stored in the body that will be burnt during the cleanse. one word of advice. once you finish the cleanse do not intake a large amount of liquor right after as you can get sick. your liver will drop the tolerance that you had towards the alcohol during the cleanse. its similar to changing the air filter in your car. one is nasty and clogged and one is clean and ready to go again. its the best 85 bucks i spend every 2.5 months or so. im starting on on monday again. i wanted to give my body one natural week of detox before i hit it with the planned one. mental clarity and the ability to focus are greatly increased. this is no t.v. diet. its a very proven and expensive program developed by nutritionists. i learned of it through my old roomate who was a sprts dr. for the chargers in san diego. its good shit. i swear by it. |
Thanks Airek, good notes...

exactly correct. keeping the weight off is a LIFESTYLE issue. proper diet + exercise long term will get the job done. not gimmicks. |
I do the lemonade diet at least twice a month for 3days and every so often when i feel the urge i do it for as long as i can possibly tolerate.
The mixture I use is: 2 Tlbs fresh lemonn juice 2Tlbs B grade maple syrup (dont use A grade all the nutrients are boiled out) Cayenne pepper (sprinkle how u like) 1 litre water it really knocks all the toxins out of your system unfortunately that means getting killer headaches and by the third day usually vomiting because the body just wants to get rid of those toxins asap .. after that its not so bad, but the hours between 36-72 are killer I take a lot of super hot tubs as well - if i had a sauna i'd use that but for now the jacuzzi tub does a pretty good job I also find it helps if my partner is doing the diet too - just for moral support otherwize it fucking stinks if you're on the diet and you look across the room and see someone loading a devils' food cake down their throat :1orglaugh |

You have to be careful of any diet that requires you (1) starve yoursself, and (2) consume something that is high in acid and sugars. Sugary mixtures do very little towards getting your body to actually process fat, instead it gives you a fast source of energy that means your body will avoid using stored fat.
On the plus side, not eating for 3 days but sticking tons of acidic fruit juice into your system will almost certainly clean out all the shit in your bowels and encourage your stomach to shrink slightly, which could easily be mistaken for actual longer term weight loss. Alex |

oh my god.... you fucking twit! you don't vomit involuntarily to "get rid of toxins" - what the fuck is wrong with you? do you have any understanding of basic anatomy and physiology? are you so ignorant that you are trying to suggest that you body has "toxins" in your stomach? i can't believe how ignorant people can be about the basic functioning of their body, metabolism and general health. eat right... exercise. it IS that simple! |

(quoting a snippet from an article i wrote) 1) ---- "...Although it is commonly thought that there are only 13 vitamins, there is actually over 30 with the 13 considered to be essential to good health which are: Vitamins; A (Retinol), B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B6 (Pyridoxine), B12 (Cobalamin), Pantothenic Acid and Biotin, Folic Acid, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol), Vitamin E (Tocopherol) and Vitamin K." 2) ---- "...There are 15 minerals considered essential to good health and they are; Calcium, Chloride, Chromium, Copper, Flouride, Iodine, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Molybdenum, Phosphorus, Potassium, Selenium, Sodium and Zinc." now look at your super duper "twice a month", "for as long as i can tolerate" diet of lemon juice, pepper and sugar and tell me how you are getting everything your body needs for basic body functions (vitamins, minerals, fats, proteins etc that facilitate these functions and processes)... much less for growth, maintenence and repair. please delve into your views of why its ok to not eat protein and fats (mainly the "EFA's" i.e. "essential fatty acids") even though they are both vital to life. you are doing something akin to drinking acid while starving yourself under the wrong assumption that the acid is performing some function which might be helpful and forgetting about everything you are depriving your body of which is ABSOLUTELY necessary for more important things like neurological, cardiological and muscular function. growth and regeneration of tissue... and all those other little things that you dismiss... and not considering the harm you are doing to your body. ...if you have made it this far... you can humor us with an explaination of what these so called "toxins" are that you are "cleansing" your body of (when you puke). I will be quite happy to rip that explanation apart. |
Eat natural foods, in a balanced diet and exercise. There's no need to "cleanse toxins" with any of these nonsense diets.
|
Whatever happened to just cutting down on the crap you eat and get more exercise :)
