Cops by me have a new toy ...
Ray was telling me that some of the Cop cars in my area have a new system that reads your plate while driving and runs it for infraction (unpaid tickets / warrants ..whatever) the car has 2 cams set up on the roof at a 45 angle that automatically reads the plates of cars on either side and runs the plate. if it finds anything it notifies the cop and he pulls you over. kinda cool but I don't like anything that logs my plate and location all on it's own. very big brother .. I guess the days of driving nice around a cop when your registration is up are over ..:Oh crap
anyone else have this by them? |
We've had them in our country for a while now, although its not on every cop car just yet.
It was showing how it all worked once on a TV programme I watched and its very cool. Computers run every number plate it reads in very quick time. I think it can notify the cop within a few seconds if the car has anything to look out for. |
Nope, but we have stop lights with cameras in them and when you run a red light (even if it's to take a left turn when the light changes) you get a ticket in the mail courtesy of the state. My buddy let someone borrow his car while he was out of town and ended up getting 3 tickets in the mail. They're not for a lot of money (I think $45 per infraction) but it's pretty messed up.
All of our cops have onboard laptops where they can punch in your tag info on the fly so if there's ever a cop behind you he or she is running your tags. |
no, but the state police here have this radar thingy on the top of their car that rotates 360 degrees, so they can even clock the speeds of people directly behind them. so much for using a speeding cop as a blocker!

nope never heard of this in my area.
|
Another thing they do here is the cops act like broken down motorists or construction workers and tag you with the laser. They post up in cherry pickers and pull over cars enmasse. I think that's fucked up.

never heard of that, strange stuff

London is implementing a city wide system with automatic scanner cams such that you won't be able to drive within the city without at least one cam getting your plate and running it through the database.
That is extremely big brother and basically transforms the city to a prison like environment. |
no, not where i live, maybe in the future

And they call it the land of the free... pfffft yeah right :Oh crap Hell I was happy that in Quebec the actual COPS refused the radar / speeding cameras system that take a pic of your car/plate and send you ticket by mail. |
