So Who Here Owns A HD Tv ??

Are the ones out just now a vast improvement, or are they a bit over-hyped ??

Been looking around but no sure what to go for. :upsidedow

What size of screen did you go for ??

I was a bit suspicious when i saw that HD channels will be starting up, and wondered what this meant for everything else that wasn't originally meant for HD.

I guess everything shows up well on it though... :)

BlueWire 04-07-2006 03:40 PM

54" Plasma

---> HD is great...but the normal channels look extra bad because you can just see how dated regular tv broadcast is.

Also, DVD's don't fully take advanage of HD yet..

But HBO HD, TNT HD, ESPN HD....all are great :thumbsup Wish there was more programming though

It just has to do with if you have 1500-4k to blow on a TV :1orglaugh

I watch a lot of TV though in my off time :winkwink:

BigMaster 04-07-2006 03:43 PM

I have a 52" RCA HDTV i love it~

venus 04-07-2006 03:45 PM

I bought a HD plasma with HDMI for my bedroom (wall mounted) and I have directTV, its a widescreen ... I was going to get a wide screen 50 in to replace my current bigscreen but dont think I will now unless I can find a normal shaped one. I do not like the wide screen. HD channels are awsome, regular shows are kinda streched and looks funny. you can go into the menu and change the settings to make it square, but who wants to do that everytime. Also using the HDMI cable really does make a difference over not using them.

Pipecrew 04-07-2006 03:46 PM

I have an ambilight one, what a waste of money, half the channels dont broadcast good hd quality movies. they replay movies from the 80s like goonies.. Only good for DVDs.

schwing 04-07-2006 03:48 PM

Should be better by the end of this year (supposedly) Pipecrew.

I've got a 50" Gateway. Scary thing is they stopped producing them. I haven't had any problems with mine so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

But didn't you know that beforehand? I mean, on digital cable where I am there are maybe 10-15 HD channels but everyone knows that...right?:Oh crap

TDF 04-07-2006 03:54 PM

the best HD channels are Discovery and PBS

where was HD when sex ed classes were around?:1orglaugh

HairToStay 04-07-2006 04:01 PM

51" Hitachi in my living room, 32" Hitachi in my bedroom. I have EDTV in my office but the quality is not the same.

I absolutely love the HDTV quality and yeah, I find myself scanning for documentaries and the like because seeing an underwater program you'll think you're underwater yourself!

I'm waiting for the Speed Channel to go high def.

CC 04-07-2006 04:02 PM

I can't imagine NOT having HD....I'm very spoiled by it. I get so pissed off when TV shows aren't broadcast in it! lol.

Holy shit !!!!! :warning

minusonebit 04-07-2006 06:40 PM

There is nothing wrong with my existing TV. Why do I need an HDTV? Because everyone else has one or worships thier friend's one? I dont get the whole HDTV thing. I guess probably has something to do with the fact that I dont have much time for TV to begin with and I also find it rather boring.

Ninja Frank 04-07-2006 06:42 PM

i got one of these, the HD looks great:
Mitsubishi Diamond Series WS-7511
(search google)

i just got screwed with when i bought it, now everything for the same price is half as slim, even the ones that arent flat screens. DOH!

seeric 04-07-2006 06:47 PM
