Serious Question
 

I have a friend who is a lurker on this board so I am posting this knowing damn good and well that he will read it.

The other night he tells me he just proposed to the girl he has been dating for about 3 months. He then asks me what I think of it. I told him I was not sure that it was the right thing. This sparked a mild depate as to why I felt this way. Here are the facts....

Him:
57 years old
Father of 3 childeren 21F, 26M, & 32F
White
State Police Officer

Her:
19 years old...almost
Friends with 21 year old daughter
Hispanic
Stripper


Now, what advice would you give him?

Whatever makes him happy. The whole "freinds with daughter" thing is risky, and he should think about whether he will be happy despite that. It's not a situation he can ignore.

You would think after 57 years he would know better. Any girl under 30 is going to go through a million changes as she matures into a women. I personally wouldn't take that risk of dealing with those changes.

Is he pushing the marriage issue or is she?

If she's pushing it, then that should throw up a really bright red flag, and if he's going along with it, it could be because he doesn't want to lose the company of a young woman which might happen if he says 'no'.

If he's pushing it, he needs to ask himself why she is accepting.. What's the payoff, other than the obvious?

Have him mention a prenup to her and see how she reacts..

Lots of common sense questions could be asked, and the answers would be obvious.

He should also be taking in to consideration of what his superior officers are going to have to say. An officer of the law and a stripper sounds like trouble brewing.
