Smoke Your Brains out at Internext Summer!

For those of you that don't read entire threads before jumping to conclusions, read here:

Internext has made special arrangements with the Westin Diplomat to make sure there are places where you can smoke, despite their new corporate policy.

One of those areas will be by the pool.

I am checking on other areas and will report back here when we have everything in writing, which should be soon.

The Diplomat sees the value of meeting our industry's needs.

Thank you.

Great news....Thanks.

2HousePlague 04-06-2006 11:28 AM

Good news, Monty - :thumbsup

I've been saying that every show should have an official Ambassador of Vice and Sin - :winkwink:

madawgz 04-06-2006 11:28 AM

lol thats wicked

Even if the hotel had no smoking area, it would be stupid for people not to go just because of that. The FL show is one of the best!

DaisyDuke 04-06-2006 11:29 AM

Now everyone go take a smoke break a calm down :winkwink:

Yeah, but to hear some of these people talk you'd think they'd die if they had to go 20 minutes without their precious crutch.

MJ_AVN 04-06-2006 11:35 AM

Mitch, to reply to your previous post in the thread that no one fully read, you can smoke on any balcony. Anywhere outdoors for that matter.
There is no smoking inside, which as I recall from the GFY Party last year and my frequent trips to the balcony, isn't anything different.

And, to AVN and those who DID read my thread:

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=595032

I say this.

This is not about addicts refusing to attend a show.

This was something that I was told by the Diplomat Hotel.

That AVN is saying we can smoke is almost as good as AVN saying we take over the hotel...and that was only true as of last year. Other years, that was not so true.

Look. Nothing against AVN or their shows. I have no beef with the organisation.

But, here's the truth. Most of the action is South Beach. I guarantee there are hotels closer to the action that would love our business....heavenly beds aside....and be more accomodating to those who take time to attend.

If said hotel has to make 'special' arrangements, then, perhaps it is time to change hotels. This is not just about smoking vs. non smoking. This is about customer service from a hotel to its clients.

MJ_AVN 04-06-2006 11:42 AM

FYI: The Diplomat has also agreed to put it in writing that attendees will be allowed to smoke outdoors on their property.

Ok. Perhaps they'd care to take it one step further and instruct their customer service/reservationists, too.

The Adult Broker 04-06-2006 11:43 AM

I don' t smoke anymore but I find it interesting this would have been an issue.

That is like saying I'm not going into a bar in New York or London anymore because they don't have smoking...

I think business is more important than smoking... If you agree, I will see you in Florida!

KRL 04-06-2006 11:45 AM

How the fuck can anyone still smoke when you know how incredibly detrimental it is to your health????

NETbilling 04-06-2006 11:47 AM

Way to go Monty. Internext is going to be awesome once again.

Mitch

Jace 04-06-2006 11:52 AM

even if they did do a non-smoking policy all through the outside of the hotel, what are they going to do when 50-100 people suddenly light up? kick us out? hahah

Even as a non smoker, you realise the cigar craze is a happening thing.

It's only an issue because it directly relates to customer service....

Regardless of how anyone feels about smoking.....personally, that's not what this is about.

Throw a party for alcoholics and include liquor and you have a disaster waiting to happen.

Throw an event where people WILL smoke, regardless, and there will be issues because they will smoke, they will be fined by the hotel, if caught smoking inside their rooms, and that will result in unhappy consumers and chargebacks, guaranteed.

As the organiser of an event, one must consider the population who attends. Having just gotten home from Pheonix, I can tell you there are people who smoke. Plenty of them.

I truly dislike edicts.

No. From what I hear they will impose a fine and charge it to your room.

haha...I have had that happen before, I charged it back...the credit card company saw the charge and thought it was strange too...those little fines they try and give are so easy to get taken off because they look like an extra charge you didn't know about

now imagine if 100 people did the same thing...LOL

that would rule

Part of that awesomeness is going to be the Porn Poker Tour!

Pornwolf 04-06-2006 12:01 PM

Will there be police in the pool area? I imagine that will effect how much smoking and what people will be smoking dramatically.

Good to know. At least we can enjoy ourselves while drinking and doing business.

aimeesweet 04-06-2006 12:49 PM

Good to hear... seriously though, we go to the show for business anyway... and it's not like a no smoking policy would stop people from smoking.

sounds like the new policy aims to collect fines, not stop smoking

ajrocks 04-06-2006 01:47 PM

Everyone should quit smoking anyway! Day 49 its not that bad. If I can do it anyone can!

I agree. Then to say you will boycott a show because you can't smoke... just insane. True addiction at its best.

Sad really.
