It starts off just talking about email scams, but scroll down a bit. They even mention platinumdialers, matrix dailers and goindirect.com

I bet all of those people claiming they didn't make the calls really did use the dialer, and just deny it so their wives/children etc don't get mad.

Dialers are horrible ripoffs and in my opinion the guys running them deserve a prick in the ass with an HIV infected needle.

Imagine someone on a dialup modem paying $5+ a minute to download a 1mb movie. Poor guy spends $20 by the time he can watch it.
Dialers suck.

Dialers are not ripoffs, it is a other way for user to to get porn if the don't have a credit card. Many dialer companies take 3.99$ for usa calls, and then the can see movie, see live showes. and many other things.

I've never understood why US based people use dialers in the first place. I doubt they don't have a credit card, most people do in the US, especially people that'd be online (usually middle income or higher).

I mean $30 for a monthly membership, or $4.99/minute. Most dialers do state their rate in caps at the top of the terms that are shown below the Connect button.. so if they don't read that, its their own fault.

I don't think you can blame the webmasters, if dialers work, they'll use them. If people were willing to whip out their CC a little more often, then maybe people wouldn't have to.

Heh, there was something similar on the news here a few months ago. A lady was on because she was outraged at her phone bill that was caused by "software that dialed in without her consent"

Funny the lengths people will go to get out of a high phone bill :)

Why doesn't the dialer connect you to a 900 number, it makes a $30 call and the person gets a password/login to the paysite the dialer is connecting to?

That would provide a billing option for someone without a CC or without a US checking account.
But dialers don't work like using a check.
Its absolute bullshit to take the moral high ground with your dialer.
Its being used to gouge people deep.

You can enter a paysite unlimited access for 30 days for $30, but with a dialer you spend $30 for about 6-10 minutes of access.
(depending on dialer rate).

I admit that the surfer needs to read the rates of the dialer. There is no excuse if they don't read. I just think its a fucking rip to charge the guy without a CC 1000000X more for the exact same content.
