Apparently he didn't know it was live ... and you know what, I don't blame him... while slightly stupid, some people don't know what a live and a used round would look like ... just because America is generally kinda gun happy, doesn't mean everyone is ...

What's worse is the people in this thread that think a live round going off because you slam it on a sesk is normal. Everyone is saying how stupid he is when I see this brought up but even if it was live throwing it around isn't a huge ass deal usually. If you could set off amunition by hitting it with the force of your hand there would be exlosions everytime someone dropped them in Wal-Mart. :1orglaugh

You dont know how old and in what condition the round was. Additionally - it may have slammed down on something small and hard - thus focussing the impact.

I will give you 100 USD to slam a live round as hard as you can on a desk with random clutter on it. I bet you wouldnt. If you would - then you my friend are like the teacher.

First off... Where the hell do you go hunting and find a 40mm shells lying around?

Second off... A 40mm shell is most likely a grenade round. How the hell was he allowed to have a live grenade on his desk? Edit: Even if it was a supposed "dud", it's still a live grenade.
