What's the best place to visit? I'm planning a trip there for around the 1st of May.. anything going on there?

Thanks :pimp :pimp

CuriousToyBoy 04-05-2006 12:07 AM

Start at the top and go to the bottom, only takes a week driving.

The place rocks.

one of the best cow's place.

Damian_Maxcash 04-05-2006 04:48 AM

Im a Kiwi - heres a quick list - Im biased towards the South Island as Im from Dunedin.

Milford Sound - dont miss it under any circumstances 10/10

Doubtful Sound - Even better than Milford but a bit more difficult to get to 10/10

Queenstown - Stunning scenery but touristy, if you are into extreme sports then this is like Mecca - its the original home of Bungy. You might just get some skiing in as well, but it might be a bit early. 8/10

West Coast South Island - If you have some time a drive up the West Coast is amazing. The Glaciers are well worth seeing, make sure you get on a helecoptor trip over Fox Glacier. 8/10

Dunedin - If you like wildlife then spend a day or 2 here and visit the penisulae - sea lions, penguins, albatross and stuff. The town itself is nice but a bit tame. 6/10

Christchurch - Large city (By NZ standards), really nice, lots of arts and that sort of thing. Very English style. 7/10

Kaikora - Famous for Whale watching - amazing if you are into whales! 7/10

Kaiteriteri - A samll town but its my favorite holiday spot. Close to the Abel Tasman National park 9/10

Abel Tasman National Park - Stunning walks and the best kayaking in the world. 9/10

Mt Cook - Nice, but in the end its just a big mountain - and you will plenty of them on your trip 6/10

Onto the North Island.

Wellington - I hate the place 3/10

Hawkes Bay - Probably sums up the NZ lifestyle best - great wine, climate, food etc 7/10

Taupo - Its OK, touristy with a big lake. 5/10

Rotorua - Touristy but a must see with all the thermal stuff here - bubbling mud, geyers and that sort of thing. 7/10

Hamilton - Its ok, not a lot really happening. 5/10

Auckland - Big city with all the attractions and problems that big cities have. Worth a few days, but dont waste too much time here. 6/10

Bay Of Islands - Nice weather, and you are going late so it would be worth it going if you want to see some sun. 7/10

Volcanoes - They look like any other mountain to be honest, if Mt Ruapehu is active though it is worth seeing. 5-9/10

Generally you will find it an amazing place, the people are great. Try and get an invite to a Marae (a type of Maori community center, with food etc), dont get stuck into one of the tourist trap ones that are around, especially around Rotarua.

If you dont have much time then on the SI base yourself in Queenstown and you can fly to the Glaciers and Milford from there on day trips. Whatever you do dont miss Milford - it really is one of the wonders of the world.

Try the ShotOver Jet boating trip in Queenstown as well - fucking awesome.

Any questions just ask - Ive played tourist guide more times than I can count.

JuiceMonkey 04-05-2006 05:40 AM

wow awesome replies...
where can i go 'sledging' i saw it on tv, you basically get flippers and a helmet and you go ripping down rivers and off of waterfalls etc.. it looks very fun.. I also would love to go zip line touring, and other fun things like that :)

Kiwigirl 04-05-2006 06:34 AM

I was born and raised in New Zealand. Auckland is where I am from.
Regardless of what you do I am sure that you will have a blast however,
just a suggestion, if you are going to NZ and have never been to Australia you should spend the xtra $300-$400 NZ$ and spend a few days in Aussie
while you are down under. Have a safe trip and if you need anything then hit me up on icq and I will try to accomadate you through my friends and family.
:)

invertiga 04-05-2006 06:44 AM

lots of good wine if your into that thing

JuiceMonkey 04-06-2006 02:37 AM

Bansheelinks 04-06-2006 05:01 AM

I read that tourism increased over 40% since the LOTR movies, because it really showed how beautiful the country is.

Sarah_Jayne 04-06-2006 05:07 AM

I have this nagging feeling in my head that I might live there one day.

JuiceMonkey 04-06-2006 05:21 AM

Call Crystal or Heramia in Dunedin - the number will be in the local paper.

I am so setting myself up for this - but they really are friends of mine.

actually if you dont like them butch call Heramia - Chrystal would flatten you

I guess my advice would be to smell them. I've know someone who picked up one that stank so bad that he had to go buy air freshener and fumigate the car before he went home to his girlfriend.

Oh, and don't grab her hair if you're getting a blow job because you might pull her wig off.

Vitasoy 04-08-2006 11:20 PM

One of the places I need to go visit someday

JuiceMonkey 04-08-2006 11:22 PM

ok so don't pull hair and use a rental car with 0 deductable.

i'm ready to rock.

I never seen any trannys there :)

But i wasnt looking for them either.

TreasureBucks 04-09-2006 02:47 AM

I take that back...

1 sec..let me see if i can find

TreasureBucks 04-09-2006 02:58 AM

I beleive there is an elected official who was man, and now lives as a woman. I cant find the name of this person.

The prime minister herself, has claimed in the past she was agnostic. That would be political suicide in the states. lol

Pretty cool she doesnt have to pander to religious wackos in order to get elected.

That would be Georgina Beyer, she is an MP and is open about her previous life as both a man and a prostitute. She is also Maori.

So she is a black, transexual ex-prostitute. The great thing is she is treated with total respect in NZ - a bit of a hero for overcoming so much and doing so well.

Its amazing seeing her in parliment and all the right wing bigots are almost wetting themselves but cant say anything because they would be lynched.

lyn1 04-09-2006 05:14 AM

The joke with us Australians is that if you don't make love to sheep and like flatulence, you won't be accepted in New Zealand. As for the Prime Minister ...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! !

Lyn from Oz

Choppa 04-09-2006 05:17 AM

My grandmother was born in Dunedin on the South island
it is meant to be lovely

I have never been to NZ though

:pimp

elitetec 04-09-2006 06:02 AM
