Do you use Flash? Are you prepared?
Apparently, MicroSoft is issuing a non-security patch next Tuesday that could have some very interesting effects on embedded files that you include on your pages.

exactly why one shouldnt use flash for navigation unless their whole site is in flash
|
Whew...thought this thread was about the discontinuing of compactflash, lol.

I vote for replacing the "Webmasters" link on tour pages with a Get Firefox button... |
IMO no paysites should have flash.
|
Well, I expect to see a lot of new Firefox converts...

I think folks are sick and tired of updating IE every couple weeks. Its really to the point of being comical. IE is like swiss cheese and a new hole appears as fast as they plug another one. |

There's hosting and then there's intelligence - :thumbsup 2hp |
This is actually horrible. I have some main stream sites that use flash in certain places. This is going to suck. :(
|
What are you folks going to do that designed a flash site for another company that requested it, once they find out their site isn't going to work worth a shit once this update hits? Go through and redesign as necessary for free, or fix shit and send them a bill?
I know there are a lot of designers that still do some shit in Flash. Would be nice to hear an opinion or two. I make some sites for local small businesses and can just imagine the phone calls I will probably be receiving over this. |

I am not a designer, and as Flash is not exactly SE friendly, I would never request it . . . however, if the asked for it, I can't see why it would be your responsibility if it stopped working due to a Microsoft update. |
damn this is gonna suck, my friend is a mainstream designer, www.newyorkfries.com www.tacovilla.com hes done tho, purely flash, and clients paid big numbers for them
|
I do use flash a lot but for some inserts and eye candy stuff...
Not anymore for navigation or critical info... Too much time consuming, keeping the updates and change the files :2 cents: I am curious to see how this shit will affect websites though :winkwink: |
this is weak.
i like the idea about a get firefox button. :) first i had to decide that i didnt care about dial up users. now i might decide that i dont care about ie users. im not using any flash on my adult sites, but i use it extensively in the mainstream. decisions, decisions |
Looks like this is affecting a hell of alot more than just flash stuff :(
