Did anyone else notice what went on during the State of the Industry Panel???

I could post for hours on how classy the Phoenix Forum was and how well it is operated and how good it is for business but you can just scroll down the board as there are a hundred other threads saying the same thing.....but if you want to define the word CLASS, then look no further than to Frank Cadwell during the State of the Industry Panel.

For those that do not know, Frank Cadwell is one of the most non-assuming, intelligent, motivated, and caring people that I have ever met. As the Patriarch of the Cadwell Family he could probably retire to the South of France and never work another day in his life.....but what does he do???? He runs around the audience during the panel passing the microphone to people with questions so that everyone can hear the questions. While most of us in his position would simply snap their fingers and order someone else to do it, Mr Cadwell took it upon himself. That tells me volumes more about a person than the size of their bank account.

If there were an award in this industry for the Classiest person, it would ultimately have to be called the Frank Cadwell Award.

Sorry for the long post...but people that know me know that it is the little things that I notice and it is those things that separate good people from GREAT people.

I have sat on this same panel for several years and several shows and none was as well done as this one....and I think it had more to do with Johnny V moderating. Johnny was determined to make it interesting and I am glad that he did. You missed the best one to date, imo.

I was sitting next to Tofu when he yelled 'Hell no!' when it was suggested it wasn't the repsonsibility of the parents to monitor their kids internet usage.

Anyway, if anyone is going to go to only two seminars all weekend it should be the State of the Industry one and the Legal Pannel both are always worth it.

Johnny V did a good job. Though, I still think they need to set aside a seminar for a proper debate on some of those topics rather than getting them started and then having to move on just as people are getting into it.

Mr and Mrs. Caldwell have been some of the most gracious and caring people I think I have met anywhere. Last year I talked to Mrs. Caldwell about the what a great show they put on and she was so proud of her son it made her glow.

It made a lasting impression on me.

I went to the State of the Industry panel and it was fab! This was my first show and I was quite impressed with the quality of information that was to be had at each of the seminars. Thanks to everyone who took the time and effort to bring us that valuable information!

I understand your point, 100%, but there is another side that people do not always think about. This is the first time that I can remember that we did not have one guy in the audience stuck on one subject and would not let us move on until one of us had to say something direct to get his attention.

While you want there to be plenty of time for a proper debate you also have to remember that not everyone is interested in every single topic so we hope to start the debates in the forum and hopefully continue them in the courtyard, the hospitatlity suites, the dinner table or maybe even over a drink later in the day.

Hope that makes sense.

Unfortunately I missed that seminar however I'm not at all surprised to hear that Frank was personally taking an active role to ensure everything ran smoothly. He's without a doubt one of the most down to earth people I've met in the industry (as is the entire Cadwell Family).

You hit the nail on the head Tony! BTW, it was great seeing you again as well.

I couldn't agree more! Frank was the first person I remember offering me real words of encouragement when I was just starting out. He said "Offer an honest product, and you will succeed." Words I'll never forget.

This is the second time I have had the pleasure of sitting down with Frank and Joanne ... they are wonderful people. I hope I get the pleasure again to visit and chat with them both.
