Your thoughts on the T-Mobile Sidekick or the...
Treo's....
I am going this weekend to get something portable... need advice :upsidedow |
You know my thoughts. ;)
Great seeing you in Phoenix, girlie! XOXO |
Treo is more functional but ugly, geared towards old gray men in business suits, it's not as cool and cute as the Sidekick, Sidekick is more trendier. I was debating between these two and even though I know Treo is better for me I'll probably end up getting Sidekick cause it's cuter :helpme
|
lori get yourself an mda by tmobile, much better than the sidekick and runs windows mobile better than the treo
|
I've got a Blackberry thru TMobile and love it.
Unlimted server is only $20 more on top of your phone plan. http://www.productdose.com/wp-conten...erry_7105t.jpg |

and MDA? do tell more hon :) |
T-Mobile. I don`t know. Must try the one to make good comments. Send me one on my home adress. OK?
|
Im getting this soon:
<img src="http://x.msmobiles.com/portal/images/i-mate/i-mate-k-jam.jpg"> Found it for 650$ I believe... http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4321.html |
sidekicks are for teenie boppers. Don't believe me? There are fucking cartoons/anime type characters on the menu's.
If you want e-mail over functionality then go with a Blackberry. If you prefer functionality over e-mail go with the Treo. I own a Blackberry and can't be without....ever. |
oh...and get the Treo 700 which runs off windows. The 650 is outdated.

Its a mini PC has everything you need By far the best mobile phone out right now. It has AIM, ICQ and MSN messanger built in Roger V |

when you sign on aim with your ICQ all you see is NUMBERS no names you dont get alerts when people add you so two icq numbers would work best mobiel and home |

I loved my sidekick for the first 6 months ... would hold a charge for about 4 days ... then the battery got worse and worse ... now only holds charge for a few hours. The sucky thing is it deletes your emails and texts when it dies.
Plus the reception/sound is not that great. I am in the market for a new phone myself .. xoxo, Megan |
email, icq, good keyboard the works lori, i could not live without it now. twice the ph that a black berry is and better to use than other windows mobile phones. http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/...8-d9cd1e2a903f
|
I'd get the T-Mobile MDA =)
|
I love my sidekick II. Have been through all the models. It's definitely not for everyone, and having a developer key is definitely a big reason I've kept it. The sidekick keyboard is the best feature in my opinion. the camera is virtually worthless except for just fun quick pics. AIM is a great feature, I just wish there was an ICQ client. I use three pop email accounts in the mail app and usually only load up thunderbird to permanently delete messages once a week, or send emails with attachments. ssh client is great to jump onto servers in a pinch, and the web browser kicks major ass most of the time. it does have it's problems, sometmes poor service and no data connection, but unlimited data for $19/month is hard to complain about when it goes down for an hour or so. And it's saved my ass so many times in the last few years. Out at a bar and there's a debate, load up google and questions answered, lost in a new city, load up google maps and go, etc..

If you don't want instant e-mail messages delivered to you...there is no reason to get a blackberry. You can do alot better with your money.
|
If you're excited about being able to get AIM on your Sidekick, the Blackberry has instant email delivery, AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo and Google even has a Blackberry version of GTalk now.
I can connect to my servers via SSH. Which has actually come in handy a few times now. |

I don't think I could have gotten a better phone for that price. |
I have the treo 700 and like it alot now that I have a few needed tweaks done... I do not like the t-mobile service or or avail in my area so i went with verizon..

sidekick is not bad either |
totally different
Ive got a SK2 nice but no BT no wifi and no ICQ unless you wanna write down all the numbers and names cause it doesnt state names. Its nice, small, looks good, works fine but no BB. |
almost forgot theres a 0-version out already for the new SK3. No idea when its gonna be released though and just US based btw.

This is the smallest device in the world that runs Windows:
http://www.shoprogers.com/images/aud...00_350x480.gif I don't know why people make such a big deal about Treos and Blackberrys because my Audiovox 5600 is the baddest mobile device I've ever seen. All the power of the others in half the size. The only thing missing is a full keyboard but with the predictive typing I can type almost as fast as any keyboard. Plus Windows Mobile blows away Palm OS. I strongly suggest you check it out before you buy a new handheld. B |
Hey Lori,
This thread made me go buy a new phone last night LOL ... I was sold on the MDA until i read user reviews at zdnet.com ... so i bought the SDA which is very similar except a bit smaller, more comfortable, no keyboard ... but very easy to text/email on ... check that one out too. http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Phones/...e-373968b1957f xoxo, Megan |

All other devices = Pull E-mail / Queries Like most people.....You don't get it. It's ok. The only way to get it...is to have one. |
I've found qtek models very nice , just google em up .
|
I don't use email as much as SMS. I have my important email accounts forwarded to my phone so I get them instantly. I still prefer my Treo to the Sidekick toy and the blackberry is cool if you can live without the functionality that comes with the Treo.
Also, the touch screen and keyboard is a luxury that can't be missed. The only thing I see that comes close is that MDA but I'm not sure about the size. The Motorola Q and the new Treo with WiFi should be out in a month or two. |
