Is the U.S. really the Leader?

Are we really the World Leaders that we think we are? What would you consider being the leader?

We are far to dependent on other countries to be called the leader of anything if you ask me, and we are WAY behind technologically...

How is it a country such as Brazil, is now 100% energy independent? They create their fuels from Sugar, and do not need to buy oil from any other countries. Why can Brazil pull this off, but we, the World Leaders, are so fucking dependent on oil that we're like Crack Babies?

How is it that a country like Japan is so far advanced technologically that they have Cell Phones that work deep underground and in tunnels, but we, the World Leaders, lose cell phone signals when we go under a freeway underpass?

Why are we more concerned about what Brad and Angelina's baby will look like than we are about our completely failing education system? Everyone you ask thinks teachers are way underpaid, schools are closing left and right, so why don't we pay them more & build more schools? Is it because nobody cares enough?

Why are we so concerned about abortion, but don't really care about war? Is it because killing is wrong and against the Bible, and therefore abortion is a very bad, bad thing. War is okay, though, because we don't know those folks, and they don't look like most of us anyway, and God probably doesn't mind.

I remember being told in high school that WWII could never happen again, because people wouldn't believe things like the Nazis did. But, we're kind of like Nazis, we are aren't we? Didn't they believe in what they were doing, too? First we have terrorists, then we have weapons of mass destruction, and then we have freeing a country from whatever it is they aren't free from, and on it goes. And the people just nod their head and say that must be right.

And, yes, we must need a patriot act. We are all patriots, aren't we?

God Bless America!

mazdaman 04-04-2006 04:23 AM

same here, america is leader yes. you have made points that will only be a potential problem in what hundreds of years, and yes potential problems only.

Drake 04-04-2006 04:59 AM

America is the leader. We can always point to examples where America falls short from this or that country, but overall I think America is still the leader. It won't that way, nothing lasts forever.

Sam Granger 04-04-2006 05:07 AM

China all the way.

xclusive 04-04-2006 05:13 AM

we are the leader but we don't have a good leader right now, If we got somebody into office that had even half a brain things could be great again. But don't see that happening with the way the system is set up right now.

cykoe6 04-04-2006 05:24 AM

Based on your post it seems pretty clear that the primary problem in America is the massive failure of the educational system. Unfortunately the fact that you are barely literate does not keep you from having ideas and feeling the need to express them in a public forum.

Brazil creates fuel from sugar? Didnt know that.

Leader? lol. How are you the leader?
Finances run the world, not the military machine you guys are.

There is no such thing as a simple leader of the world.. china, japan (?) or EU could fuck up the us economy if wanted, collaborated or not. Why would they though? The world is a place where powers balance, financial world is what rules.
You guys seem to really outweight the usa's current situation in that field..or don't think about it this way at all.. just because you have the latest in military technology and plenty of suckers going to war for you to get more gas for your SUV doesn't make you the leader of the 'free' world.

There is no such thing. Stop being arrogrant. k thx.

as a great leader once said , tell the lie, enforce the lie , the lie soon becomes the truth

looking at america from the outside , i think alot of the shit about america beign great and world leaders etc etc , is just mass brainwashing , over the years the people have been told so many lies over and over that they just end up believe it

i mean look at terrorist actions , america drops bombs on some country from a couple hundred thousand feet up , and they term in peace keeping , the country you drop bombs on , decides to change the battle field and take it to you , and they are term terrorists

i wouldn't say america are leaders in much ,be it technology ,ecconmy, as it stands china has america by the balls in debt

The US is definately a leader in consumption. If you're purely talking politics they are no better than any other nation in the world and no worse than many others. Every country has flaws. Of course the USA would be better served with less military spending, but many would disagree with me.

Well said.

China leading? In what? Technology? They're borrowing everything they can from Russia. In human rights? In censhorship maybe. Culturally, America is dominant. The "American Dream" where a poor person aspires to enrich themselves financially is now a worldwide one, among countless other American born and bred traditions.

While most battles are fough politically and economically today, don't kid yourself that military power isn't still the hallmark of dominance. It's an absolute necessity and always will be.

The world is now one global market dominated and run by multinational corporations.

Countries are just facades led by bullshiter politician puppets funded and manipulated by the multinationals.

Downtime 04-04-2006 07:23 AM

yes we are the world leader by far

12clicks 04-04-2006 07:26 AM

we really should pull in our horns for a few years. the idiots of the world would then have a better understanding of all that we do.

SilentKnight 04-04-2006 07:33 AM

Certainly the U.S. has the best sour mash bourbon.

But overall, if we're talking quality of life overall - the U.S. leaves much to be desired in many ways.

Yup...sugar cane. They began research on it back in the 70's when the first oil crisis hit. They plan to be 100% free from oil for transportation by the end of this year. And their "green" cars cost the same as normal cars. Someone's getting the shaft.

Babaganoosh 04-04-2006 07:40 AM

The USA is most definitely swinging the biggest dick on the planet right now. We don't have the money to buy a condom to protect that big dick but it's still a pretty big dick.

slapass 04-04-2006 08:00 AM

That is pretty funny on this forum. 50% or more of the money made from our industry is US related. Dog the US as much as you want. It is still the leading country to do business.
