Niagara trails...snakes!...and falls [PICS]
 

So I took advantage of the nice weather today and checked out an area of the Niagara escarpment I've never been to before - Swayze Falls (in Shorthills Park). Caught a few images of snakes and the falls - although not much water over the falls since its been a very dry winter and spring:

I love the falls and I love being so close to them.

Defintely a fan of the Canadian side. More to do and it's just better taken care of.

On days when I don't feel especially motivated, I plop down on the computer...check out a few past shots, and get the ambition to shoot something even better. Today was one of those days (although I didn't get any frame-worthy shots).

The weather closed in on us and we barely made it back to the car before the clouds unloaded - major thunderstorm and lightning.

Those are 'magical white people'.

I was standing there about to take a few shots and commented to my wife that there was nothing in the scene to give it scale.

Poof.

Like magic, the couple and their dogs appeared a minute or so later, having hiked up the riverbed from below.

Brown squirrels suck.

they aren't all black, no black ones in northern ontario at all, i've only seen them in heavily populated areas like toronto and ottawa. just like black people it seems haha

Naw, they were only harmless littl' garter snakes. Mama snake and two babies. They were more leary of me than vice-versa.

Very cool, I was at the falls 8 days ago! Got to admit that I thought they were bigger, nevertheless it was a great experience.
