i think that was one of the biggest net-fiasco's ever.. wondered how much they made per day...

That was insane!! Every possible type went to netsol. They could retire from all those typeins with ease! It did not last long did it? But those landingpage servers must have been running red-hot!

Did Verisign got sued for this?

Just to give you an idea what kind of traffic these guys were getting:

Carle, who said Afilias gets about one billion domain name server (DNS) queries daily, reported that 10 to 12 percent of them fail because of mistyped or nonexistent addresses. She said the revenue opportunity for VeriSign, which probably takes around 20 billion DNS queries daily, is clear.

10% of 20 billion is 2 billion typeins... mindboggling!
