Google acting weird last couple of days?
 

anyone seeing some weird action with their listings the last 4 days?

a lot of my number 1 spots are dropping like hell, haven't seen anything like this happen for the last 2 years.

they've been up to strange stuff for weeks

and some of the stuff they put up there on top are shit

even official sites are sometimes dropping like flies

Yeah, a lot of changes are happening. A lot of good site with relavent information have disappeared. Webmasters on other mainstream boards have been complaining that their SERP has gone to Google hell.

Search engine spammers are ahead of the game right now.

I lost my best #1 spot ever a few weeks ago.

apart from the search engine google has got to big for its boots! don't get me wrong, i still use them for all my searches and i would love to be No1 postion but i hate they're attitude and the way they've got a figure in ever pie!
quickly becoming the next microsoft in the "most hated company" catagory!

yeah and it's not like they drop a couple of places, more like 40 spots sometimes

I added a couple of my mainstream sites to Google's sitemap beta the other day. One of the features is that it shows you top search results for your site. One site that has been stable for years (PR6, 4-5 years old) had keywords listed as top 10, but I couldn't find them anywhere in the first couple of results pages. The other site was spot on.

well one thing for sure , google certainly isnt lowering their relevency to try and push more clicks through google adwords so they make more money..

jeezus, have had number 1-3 spots for over 6 months on "marketa belonoha", now that page is on spot 305, how the fuck did this happen ???

same exact thing happened to be me a few weeks ago. Sucks when you lose that income out of nowhere. But that is the SE game.

true true, but used to loose from better pages, not crapier ones, weird thing is that some of my crapy pages are now scoring higher than my high content pages

Exactly. I've had some spirited battles over the last few months exchanging top positions with a couple of sites I'm competing with, but if this latest "update" sticks it pointless to continue working those domains.

When I checked to see what replaced me I found TGP galleries, redirects and virus-laden pages had taken the top spots.

seems the less a page has to do with something, the higher it scores

these are the most spam ridden and most irrelevant serps i`ve ever seen.

the majority of the google staff are in china at the moment for a week or 2.

might have something to do with it......all countries where they have offices are affected by this.

Google's porn serps got raped when Jagger hit but with this Big Daddy update it's gotten even worse.

Since Dec, 27th, 2005 my site dropped 500 places for many keywords and spam has ruled the adult serps:disgust .

M$ is going to rule the rest of 2006 and into 2007

okay, my normal competitors (Coolios, FreeOnes, Glam0ur, ModelShrines, Badgirlsblog) seem to have the same problem, they are grouped with my sites.

the serps are really awful

they seem to be giving lots of weight to domain length and main url traffic , so subdomains off mainstream sites are ranking super high for adult and expired mainstream domains filled with doorway pages

okay, so, probably start putting stuff also on free hosts again or what?

Do you suppose this is happening as spam filters may be coming on and off and that it will sift these types of pages and eventually settle down?:thumbsup

Google just can't keep up with all the seo spammers.

I have to say, a lot on it now are spammed results, but also a lot of irrelevant results

on a main adult keyword I use ( and had a decent position ), I am gone...

all I see in the top 5 pages is:

http://www.domain-name.com/keyword.htm

Most of it is irrelevant portal or cloacked pages ....

i think its fairly obvious they are making their results worse for certain terms that they can drive lots of traffic to the google adwords on the sides.

If you click the top 5 links for "lesbian porn" and none of them have lesbian porn , you are certainly more likely to click the ad on the right , thus google makes money , they dont make money off you finding what you want on the regular results..


But hey they would never do that because it would make their search engine crappier right ? :)

I think the crappiness of the results seems to be in direct correlation to the advertising rates on the google adwords ( for certain things )

i.e. higher the cpc , lower the relevency.. . i think they figure , even if you use the google adwords you are still finding what you want right.. so you will still come back to google.. as long as they lower their relevency in respect to the amount of competition for that keyword on google adwords the results will still be fairly relevent ( if you include adwords )

on the upside: yahoo rankings are getting better

i haven't noticed anything with google, although yahoo has been changing for me.
