what's the best video editing software right now?
 

I need to update from this old Studio 8 on my old clunky comp..Now I have room on my laptop I need a good easy to use editor...

Any suggestions? I want to go buy within an hour.

i have no clue... but windows got movie maker! (got the siggy my niggy)

I also use and prefer Vegas (6d is the current version I am on).

actually I was thinking if studio 8 met your needs you could go with sony movie studio . Its based on the same engine as vegas, costs 100 bucks and you can even edit hd on it.

I've used ulead mediastudio.. it works pretty well

Adobe Premiere or FinalCut Pro seems to be what a lot of pros use.

As mentioned, Vegas is probably the best bang for the buck though, and easiest to get the hang of.

I am in love with Premiere Pro 2.0...I downloaded a trial of Vegas a few nights ago to see what the fuss was about and didn't care for it, the interface was too basic for me.....the new premiere pro 2.0 interface is simply amazing

FinalCut Pro is for Mac. haven't seen that software for PC yet.

Its simple but you can get as complicated as you want. The best audio tools for video and handles hd and 24 p better then any other nle. Now they are starting the certifications like avid because boardcasters are looking at it seriously.

WTF? Hardly any pros use Premeire. They mostly use Final Cut or Avid.

I don't have any need for HD and 24 p, I create videos for the internet...LOL

I guess if I start making major motion pictures I will check out other alternatives, but from what my members have been saying they have no use for HD Surround Sound porn...LOL

notepad.exe for html authoring, and windows movie maker for video editing.. alriiiight. No, seriously.. Vegas 6.x suits me fine.
