I just overclocked my Pentium D 930 3ghz....

to 3.6ghz and tested to see how stable it would run. Opened up Firefox with 10 tabs, mozilla thunderbird, winamp and played the game F.E.A.R with the video settings set to max and it all runs great and no real change in temp. for the cpu.

Yngwie 04-02-2006 02:45 AM

still running perfect.

practiceTITOISM 04-02-2006 02:47 AM

Very nice~

Yngwie 04-02-2006 02:52 AM

even without the overclocking I don't get what people are saying that F.E.A.R. wouldn't run good with the video setttings set to full.. I played the whole game with the vid settings set to max and it ran perfectly.

Pentium D 930 3ghz
2gb pc2-4300 dual channel
XFX Gefoce 7800GT 256mb 256-bit - PCI-e

oh... i see, thanks man, i'll try it...:)
BTW... is there any chances that it might broke down if i overclocked it?

Yngwie 04-02-2006 03:07 AM

Any reason why you'd need to overclock a machine like this? I seriously doubt the extra 600 mghz is making much of a difference.

chris_joseph 04-02-2006 03:09 AM

ok... thanks :)

10 tabs of firefox , winamp playing ,thunderbird , well they aren't very cpu intensive programs ,its more memory itensive crap

fear on the other hand is cpu intensive

overclocking like that isn't a realy bit stretch so of course you aren't going to tell much difference what you need to do is run something like 3dmark to tell the difference , one it before you overclocked and after you overclocked

how much memory do you have?

I know, they are not cpu intensive programs and I will run 3dmark to see the difference. Will probably do that in a few hours.

I have 2gb of memory. PC2-4300
