Great best of Bas Rutten video.

Damn what a brutal fighter Bas was. I'd love to see him come back for a couple more fights. I bet he'd still clean some clocks!

Just something fun for a boring friday night :thumbsup

Yeah Bas is def. a bad ass fighter and trainer. I wish the video would of had a few more different fights in it though, sort of played the same fights over and over.

Rickson Gracie fought the best of his time. Rickson is now 48. Word is that he hasn't been the same since he lost his eldest, who was featured in "CHOKE", a documentary of Rickson as he ready to fight in PRIDE.

Rickson Gracie vs Nobuhiko Takada

Or you learn the rules for fighting in Pancrase. :)

No closed fists to the head. So palm strikes only to the head, fists to the body.

I've met a few times, and man I wouldn't want to get hit by him, his knucles are just massive and look like battering rams on him.

I'll give you that the Dutch are great in K1, but the Russians, Brazillians and Japs rule Pride.

takada is absolutely hopeless just look at his mma record it says it all really... plus rutten floored funaki the 2nd time around... when they first fought rutten had no idea how to deal with submissions...

fact is if rickson is so "great" as he claims he would of accepted the rutten fight...

rotterdammer 04-02-2006 02:35 AM

Very cool! Bas Rutten is the best! :)

Rickson doesn't claim anything, other do it for him.

Rickson was already in his 40's his last fights, he is already set for life financially, and held out for the top bucks his name, Rickson Gracie, commands.

Rickson fought the best MMA had during his time, and won. You can't take that away from him. In BJJ, he is considered a grappling God, only eclipsed by Rolls Gracie.

Hooligan 04-02-2006 08:33 PM

is this fake wrestling?

tony286 04-02-2006 08:34 PM

damn thats got to fucking hurt.

iWeb_Allan 04-02-2006 09:07 PM

A lot of power, too little technique. Fearless prediction: I wouldn't win but I'd last 10 minutes in the ring with the guy. :2 cents:

Spunky 04-02-2006 09:09 PM

Damn site won't open

Ken 04-02-2006 09:12 PM

Any of you CA guys who wanna train with Bas, he's teaching this week at our gym, Tues and Thurs morning. Hit me up and I'll hook you up with a day pass ;)

Mark - I haven't found quite what I'm looking for yet. Looking for some high end flash work and a very slick design. I'll keep you in mind though as having a fan do it would def be the best.

LOL....No offense, but without knowing you, seeing you or asking if you have any training, I'd put 10k on the fact that you wouldn't last 3 min with him....

bas challenged him years before he fought takada... so thats no excuse for not accepting his challenge...

he claimed of winning 400 fights with 0 losses... Fact is only a few are documented and the ones that are documented are cans...

not to mention 400 fights... he must of been in the ring every fortnight...:1orglaugh

i guess he adds sparring to his record :(

georgeyw 04-03-2006 12:43 AM

that looks pretty dam painful! What is it about people that makes them want to bash the crap out of others for a crust?

Jim3k 04-03-2006 08:10 AM

Please provide proof of that, as I can't find any. I know Bas challenged him after a fight in Pancrase, but not when Rickson was still active.

Yah, the 400 fight record has always been dubious, kinda like Ralphs 11 / 0 and then getting the shit beat outta him by Frank Shamrock.

He fought who they put in front of him. The best they had at that time, it's not hard bro, to fathom this.

Either way, if he's not getting the payday his name deserves, why do it? I'd rather keep my invincible aura intact. :)

If I was in Cali I would be there in a heartbeat Ken. Great offer, some of you guys should take him up on it.

Ken, any chance Bas will ever step in the ring again?

watch bas ruttens dvd which contains all his fights... he challenged rickson right after he won a fight... and rickson didn't accept... mind you rickson was still fighting and fought later on in pride...

look at ricksons last fight...

Win Masakatsu Funaki Technical Submission (Rear Naked Choke) C2K-Colosseum 2000 5/26/2000 1 12:49

this challenge was before his last fight...

Bas told me about a year ago that the only way he would come out of retirement would be to fight Rickson for a LOT of money...winner takes all. We all know that's not going to happen.

Bas ended his carrer on top, unlike many great champions. As tempting as it is to get back in the ring sometimes, it just doesn't make sense in the big picture. He's moved on to the business side of MMA and is doing well for himself, so I doubt we'll ever see him in the ring again.....unless you come to our gym that is ;)

dynastoned 04-03-2006 10:38 AM

id like to see him fight in pride he would be fun to watch.
