I did mine and although unpleasant I instantly felt better when a friend of mine told me he was getting back a tax refund and was all stoked about it.

I made 50% more money last year than the year before, so they'll bleed me. I know, no reason to complain, but still, seeing what I'll be paying did not make me happy.

Ah well, no use complaining. Taxes are needed, after all.

In the US nothing is actually better than a 1200 tax refund.

If you suddenly have a high income you sometimes have the option to split that income with your previous years.

About taxes, it is understandable that there are taxes, and I don't mind paying some taxes. But nowadays there are taxes for everything. And the things I most hate are special taxes or rules just to make sure the country still benefits from you in any way. And too much of the money is going to the wrong persons.

I feel for you. I also had a large increase and everything went up.
I am also sick of several pages of exemption and crap I do not qualify for because I have not adopted someone, had a kid, got married, and so forth. I am also pissy that I had my property tax go up yet again and most of it goes to schools and crap. All in all it just pisses me off.
