Opening sponsors in a new window - a problem?

I read a post recently here and someone was saying something about how you should not open a sponsor in a new window (_blank, _top, etc.) because you may not receive credit.

Does anyone know specifically which programs are like this? I have a few sponsors that I think that may be a problem with.

Thanks!

:winkwink:

most all of them are like that, and they probably already nailed you, and the best part is they dont tell you, you just get to keep sending them traffic. It may be a good idea to go back to some signup pages, do some reading, they'll state it very clearly how you can/cant link to them.

Ummm.... please tell me that CC Bill does not use this method?

If CC Bill sites cannot be opened in a new window this will explain alot for me, and I will be changing a bunch of shit tomorrow, someone say it ain't so.

WTF?

I'm pretty sure this rule is mostly for payperclick sponsors. I've never had a problem openning new windows for paypersignup and partnership sponsors.

you can open links in a new windows, I don't think it matters, unless the paysite uses real back tracking software

Like pornJester said it's mainly payperclick. I dare say there are exceptions out there with partner/per signup but they are in the minority.

Does anyone know of any sponsor specifically that do not give you credit for paypersignup and partnership programs when there is a tag to open the page in a new window?

Or is this just an urban legend?
