quiet 03-28-2006 07:04 PM

Peaches 03-28-2006 07:05 PM

That thing where you take a ride to the top of the mountain, watch the sunrise and drive a bike back down.

Because ALL your threads are about you spending your wealth ... all the time...

I am happy that you succeeded in life and you probably do deserve it ... but you do not need to flash so much ( condo in Whistler ( I think ), porsches, and so on ).

People that do have class are a bit more " subdued " ...

Your attitude is knows as " parvenue " ( basically lots of money, no class ).

Sorry if I don't suck up to your posts ...

:2 cents:

quiet 03-28-2006 07:23 PM

huh? i'm going to maui for a week. just wondering what the locals think is worth doing. one of the most regular threads on gfy. not sure how this is flaunting my wealth - we aren't even staying a particularly good hotel. glad to add you to my hater list though :glugglug

anyone else who actually has something worthwhile to contribute?

definitely. we are going to hike to the bottom of the volcanic crater, as well as do a crazy hike that passes several massive waterfalls. should make for great image material.

Its a little rough to get down to in a couple spots when I was there a few years ago.. BUT to me it was well worth it...

Yea you do have to trespass some to get thru, namely an OLD chinese cemetery... Once again WELL worth it...

Drive ALL the way around the island on the Hana side. Lots of cool stuff out there. No houses.... just old churches and cows that run along your car while you drive along the pacific. Riding the ATVs was fun. Be sure to get a convertable to enjoy the island better.

alec 03-28-2006 08:11 PM

Don't they have exotic bars there?

Do the bike ride from the top of Haleakala. Theres a sunrise one & also a little later one. I'd say take the later one cuz you have to leave a 2am for the sunrise one.

Go to Cove Park in Kihei & take some surf lessons. That's always fun.

Past Wailea go to Big Beach. Super nice beach, you can also climb over the rocks & go to Little Beach (the nude beach). There are also a bunch of small beaches around there that are really private (changs beach, secret beach). If you can find them, go there.

The drive to Hana is overrated. Take a Helicopter & stay a day at the Hana Hotel. It's great over there.

Near Big Beach, out further, there's a place called "Fishbowl". You have to hike 1mile over lava to get there, but it's the best snorkeling on the island. Get a book called "Maui Revealed" that's available all over (stop at costco when you get off the plane). It's a great book & gives lots of local tips & places to go.

Molokini is overrated too. The coral is way too young.

A whale watching trip is good from Maalaea Harbor, but whale season is almost over, so you might not see any. The aquarium down there is nice too.

In Lahaina, just walk down front street.

Paia is cool ...kinda hippy, but fun. Just pas Paia is Mama's Fish House. Absolutely the best place to eat on the island.

Not many good restaurants on the island. The best pizza is a Tiki Lounge in Kalama Village in Kihei.

If you dont have a room yet, definitely stay at the Grand Wailea. It's hands down the best. And go to the spa. The Terme kids ASS. The pools are great too. Swim up bar, waterslides & hidden hot tubs, etc.

...that's just a few suggestions.

Oh yeah, a dinner cruise on the trilogy is nice.
And there's a thing called Ulalena which is supposed to be like cirque de soliel ..but ive never been. supposed to be good.

Old Lahaina Luau is supposed to be good, but again, ive never been. The Luau at the Reinissance Wailea is the only one ive been to

There is a lady on the side of the road who makes the best dam meat skewer things.
She is on the right hand side if you are driving away from Wailea
There are a few other ones before her but dont try them she is the best. You will know its her by the photos she has of celebs and stuff eating at her stands

Tell her I say hello

quiet 03-28-2006 10:03 PM

thanks for all the info! that cruise sounds awesome, will have to do that.

will also check out the lady/skewer thing.
