Porn laws in New Zealand and Australia?

I know there are Aussie webmasters here but I read somewhere that hosting your porn site in Australia is illegal? Is porn outlawed within the borders of Australia? What about New Zealand? Can an adult webmaster run a site on or offshore while living in New Zealand? We are thinking of moving to New Zealand in the next couple of years if we can continue to run adult websites while living there.

you make sure you have your server and domain hosted overseas. Say have it hosted with Cave Creek. Prob easier with a .Com than .Com.au or nz

:pimp

Oh sure, they'll BUY porn but you can't SELL it there.

Ok, firstly Australia and New Zealand are completely separate countries... separate continents even. The laws are most likely vastly different between the two.

Secondly, the cost of hosting a high volume site outside of the US or EU is probably going to be exceedingly expensive, so you can throw the "onshore" scenario right out the window... :)

Your fine in NZ. Its totaly legal to own and run sites. You can host with a NZ company, but it just wouldnt be worth it to be honest because of the cost.

Broadband is available in all towns and cities, just be careful if you are looking at a more rural location. There is a satalite system for those out of town, but it is downstream only and upstream is dialup. Its pretty useless for webmasters.

Where are you thinking of moving to in NZ? I lived there for 10 years and know most of the country pretty well, especially the South Island.

Why would you want to host in AU or NZ anyway?

Thanks to all the mates who answered my post! :upsidedow

I have dotcoms and I would just keep them all with the hosts I already have. I guess my question was, to make it more clear, would I get into trouble for being an adult webmaster in NZ or AU? And since NZ is our first choice of relocation, you answer is perfect!
