I hate snitching...but I fucking had to...

Ratted out a couple of Adwords publishers pushing knock-off Air Jordans. I have 23 pairs and am an avid collector. I can't stand paying $300-$1,000 for a classic pair and then turn around and seeing fake ones being sold for $65.

So since they were in clear violation...I reported them...

Anyone else ever do something like this? To competition?:Oh crap

Brujah 03-28-2006 12:20 AM

Nope. Can't say I have.

fris 03-28-2006 12:20 AM

no, but if they are advertising something thats worth a lot and selling fakes, i would in a flash, not for the competition, but cause they are using google to market their stolen goods, google wouldnt like that

Young 03-28-2006 12:24 AM

Ya it looks like the two ads i reported were pulled. but there are still a ton more....clear violation of adwords and google doesn't seem to give a fuck until someone actually complains.

AmateurFlix 03-28-2006 12:26 AM

I sure as hell wouldn't feel bad about reporting them. Though I would feel bad about paying a grand for sneakers lol

Hello J.R.,

Thank you for your email reporting an ad that possibly violates one of our
policies. I will investigate this matter and take the appropriate action.

Please note that our AdWords Specialists review all of the ads in our
program. However, ads may run on Google before we check them, and you may
see some ads that do not comply with our guidelines appear for a short
time on Google. We assure you that we are working diligently to apply the
same criteria to all of our ads.

Thank you for informing us of your concern, and we appreciate your
patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Eric
The Google AdWords Team

I learned my lesson 4 years ago. Simultaneosly recieved 2 fake products from two different sellers.

warlock5 03-28-2006 01:06 AM

Actually just reported someone today. I visited their front page and was bombarded by new browser windows in firefox, thought it was a bug, tried it in IE it did the same thing and crashed my system. I haven't seen that shit since 1999. Personally I think its good to report these guys because for every bad site someone visits through google it hurts the credibility of every other site advertising there. May be just a little bit, but give it 5 years and its not going to help your conversions.

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh I'm portuguese. It's just Jordans and Nike Dunks...they are nice to look at and believe it or not they are also kind of an investment. :upsidedow

I wear shoes 90% of the time...not really much of a sneaker wearer.

but i'm still laughing off of what you said :1orglaugh

i never rat people out..
the guys who had that ad up were just taking advantage of what is possible. If u know they are fake, just dont buy em at them, dont rat them out.

I disagree 100%

Google by themselves would never know about it so they rely and appreciate it when the community does this.

I hate the fakes too

Grapesoda 03-28-2006 06:19 AM

Good for you.

Only sneaker I would collect are those old Converse Predators from the early 90's. Fuckin' sneakers were like ski boots. You could kick a guy's ass all day with them.

Sosa 03-28-2006 12:36 PM
