Donal Trump... in Chicago ~
So I was walking down a street in downtown Chicago when I all of the sudden saw signs and beginning construction for Trump Hotel and Tower (Trump City) or something like that... which will of course overlook Lake Michigan and the surrounding buildings (quite a few miles away from the Sears Tower). He's building in the middle of the damn city, lol.
This guy is huge in every city and there is no slowing him down... I'm wondering -- how did such a goofy looking guy become so filthy f'n rich? I respect him as a business person, as he has obviously made some good investments (including this one). Along with the good, he has made some bad (like us all), but his working cashflow has always been available... regardless of what he "owed". |
They were doing some ground work for that area when I was there last summer. Hear alot about it then supposed to be pretty fucking big. Right along the river that goes through the city and overlooking the lake.

yeah hes expanding

Donald's Daddy, Fred Trump, gave him alot of money, tens of millions.
Ted Turner's Daddy gave a business that was spun into CNN. A big bankroll helps... alot. |

Trump's Chicago building was going to be the tallest in the world, but they decided against that in the name of terror. Then the Fordham Spire plan was announced by another company and Trump cried like a baby because that one is planned at over 2,000 feet (tallest in the world) and would go right in front of his.
Trump International Hotel and Tower: http://i1.tinypic.com/sdpu6a.jpg Also notice the planned addition to Navy Pier. It's only a matter of time before that sort of thing extends the entire lakefront and Walt Disney opens a resort there. This is the Fordham Spire. It was approved by the city a couple weeks ago. The next tallest building is always being built in Chicago, but it looks like this one is actually going to happen. http://i1.tinypic.com/sdpukk.jpg |
You'd think he could afford a new toupee, he's been wearing the same one since the seventies...

He's doing a building in Toronto as well, his name is so hot right now that any developer will partner up with him. I think he's pretty much just loaning his name to alot of these buildings, I am really doubtful if they are really "Trump" buildings.

His grandfather Friedrich Trump immigrated to the US from Germany in 1885 and opened the family's first real estate office in Queens. Fred Trump then built up an empire of of over tens of thousands of low income apartment units in Brooklyn and Queens.
Regardless you have to acknowledge Trump is a master at branding, marketing, and publicity and have vastly expanded his dad's real estate empire. Most amazing thing about Trump is the bounce back he pulled off when the commercial real estate slump of the 90's nearly wiped out his entire fortune and his net worth sank to the minus billions. He used to joke during this time period, he'd walk on the streets of Manhatten looking at the bums and thinking to himself, "Right now these bums with just a couple bucks to their names have a higher net worth than I do". I've been lucky to meet him 3 times, once in the Trump Tower gift shop where I was buying one of his books and he walked over to sign it, at the NYC heliport, and at a charity event at Mara-A-Lago. He's a friendly and interesting guy in person. |
The man is just so powerful... the only reason is he would really be crying is because he doesn't not have enough time in a day to figure out how to spend his money.

I was in Phoenix earlier last year, and I'm pretty sure he was getting ready to have a bridge built with his name along with a hotel there too or a huge office building zone... I forget exactly what it was, but he is in every booming city.
