In this industry, its much easier. You just have to take your competition out partying a few times, and get them addicted to drugs, alcohol and whores. Eventually, they just burn themselves out and quit!

I've noticed that the type of methodology mentioned in that inc.com article depends entirely on the company and leadership styles within the company. What works best for some does not work best for all.

Just an observation. Interesting article.

When you have a strong product where the client pays you every month / year / transaction and has a business need for your product, playing defence is a valid way to work to maintain business and expand using word of mouth / related companies / related people strategies.

It is how IBM worked the mainframe buisness for years. Once you were hooked, selling you the next piece of software or next hardward platform or upgrade was easy money.
