How does Alexa Know...
Which sites you own?
I just checked one of my sites in Alexa and noticed that it has picked up another 4 websites, 1 of which I don't partically want people to know about as it's a personal website for family and friends.. How can I block Alexa from accessing my data and how does it work out which sites you own. Is it from the domain registrar, Website host or what.. |
You use the Alexa toolbar?

I think probably whois and stuff like that. Might also dig your name servers and stuff to see what else is being hosted on your IP. Might try using one of those domain privacy things and moving that site to an IP not associated with your other sites. I think there is also some robots.txt things you can do, but I cant find the bookmark on that right now.

I don't use the Alexa toolbar and 2 of the domains are hosted on completly different webservers by different hosting companies..
The domains are all held at the same place namecheap but the Alexa data does not match up with the whois info at all.. |

Do you host all your sites on the same IP? :)
|
No, two of the ones in Alexa are on paid servers, two are on free hosts servers..
