Europeans or any skiers-Help!

I'm getting married the last week in November. We are planning our honeymoon for the first week in December. We want to do a ski vacation to Europe. The skiing is important to us, but we also want a cool town where we can get lost in the culture, and enjoy a fun Euro- apres ski scene.

Any thoughts for that time of year?

France, Italia or Austria.

I liked Chamonix in France, it's a town right under Mont Blanc.

You're the second person that suggested Chamonix, I speak french so that would be fun..a little parlez vousing.

I love Italy in the summer-any thoughts there? I've been to Livigno, I wonder what that would be like in Early December

If you're looking for apres-ski, avoid Switzerland. Austria has a warm apres-ski culture. Going skiing in Italy will leave you with a language barrier to cross as not many people speak English there.

Austria or France are your best bets.

I LOVE the language barrier-I think that is half the fun of travelling in Europe. Any favorite spots in Italy?

Don't forget Switzerland! In december, in France, it is difficult to find good snow...

But it depends of your budget...

Try this webcam to select skiing station in France... http://www.skiinfo.fr/webcams/detail...STID=EFRMEGEVE

We are worried about snow in December. I heard we need a glacial town.

Do you know anything about Zermatt?

Cortina d'Ampezzo is definitely a wintersports location worth checking out. It's in the Dolomites mountains.

December weather is generally really cold, little sun but enough snow depending on where you go to. Determine your location first and then find out how snow conditions are throughout the year.

Good choice! You can link Zermatt (Suisse) to Chamonix (France) by ski, through "Mont Blanc"!

Thanks ssp-this place looks like a great place to start digging. I love the fact that they had the olympics there. I did the Olympic Bobsled run up in Lake Placid, and it was a riot. I also love the fact the I cant understand 1/2 the websites because they are all in Italian..I really do think that is half the fun. Its amazing how fluent in a language you can becaome after a coupld of glasses of wine ;)

Any thoughts on the place in Italy that held the olympic ski events this year? It looked fairly low key like Cortina.

The place this year was in Torino, however the winter games have been held in Cortina way back in '56. A James Bond movie has also been shot there (For your eyes only).

The best places in Austria are Lech am Arlberg, St.Anton am Arlberg (Both Tyrol), Schladming (Styria), Saalbach - Hinterglemm, and if you have a lot of money it's Kitzbuehl.
I'm from Austria and have to know it ;)

You know you really ought to let your peeps know about this wedding thing some way other than a message board ;)

If you want to enjoy the mountains, you can go to France, Switzerland or Austria. But if you want to enjoy the mountains and the apres ski (Fun, Party...) than its better to go to Austria.
