TGP owners - Question

For all you TGP owners - Do you open links in new window or not? If not why. Thanks,
Moe

Dreamman010 05-02-2002 06:06 PM

I'm not a TGP owner but I have seen very few TGP sites that do that. Personally, I think that it's annoying.
I suggest you not to make links open in a new page.

I prefer the new window myself.

me too.... keeps your site open and they don't have to keep hitting the back button to get back to it.

I cant tell you the reason because it is TGP classified, but dont open galleries in a new window. trust me on this.

LOL, now we want to know...

the Shemp 05-03-2002 12:57 AM

Most of the larger TGP's open in the same window... but...

if you are running a small to medium sized (under 100k) tgp and rely on trades and click productivity I would recommend new windows for the reasons Amp mentioned. Especially if most of the sites you are trading with pop galls in new windows cuz the surfers are trained to close that window and if it was the one your site was in then that's the only click you'll get out of them.

shemp seems to know something we don't, but i prefer to open them in a new window. this way my site always stays open in the background so if they click on a gallery's banner and get mousetrapped, or click on a cheater gallery, my tgp doesn't get closed.....i think it's key to keep my traffic clicking on as many things as possible and i open every single link in a new window.

besides, when i'm surfing TGP's, i always right click and open links in a new window cuz i like it better that way, so i give my surfers what i like best.

lagwagon 05-03-2002 01:31 AM

yeah with heavy bookmarking traffic... you need to open same window then the load is not annoying... but if small then new window,, every hit counts right?.... but sublime directory, the hun, call kelly they all open in the same... there is something there..... "bookmarkers = money", thats what i think

From what Shemp says, I think it means when a person opens a gallery and hits the back button to go back to the TGP, it ups ones hits on the counters and thus gives a better counter rating, at least for raw hits.

I prefer to open galleries in new windows, so surfer never lose track of my TGP if they follow a gallery to a paysite. But then Shemp surely knows what he's talking about!!

If you are rotating banners, or selling ads, then opening in same makes sense.

TGP #1
Opens links in a new window.
100 New Links A Day
1,000,000 surfers.
1,000,000 page views to the tgp (if they click on each link).

TGP #2
Opens link in the same window (requiring back button).
100 New Links A Day
1,000,000 surfers.
100,000,000 page views to the tgp (if they click on each link).

My math may be fucked up, but which one looks better to an advertiser? Which one gives you more chances to sell to a surfer, if you're rotating banners?

To give an answer to this we just need to try to reproduce what's user experience visiting a Tgp.
Tgp's users are people who look for free adult content, as much as they can.

If they find a good Tgp with a good quantity of content they won't like to leave the index page, since it is the starting point to get more galleries.
That's why I think it is essencial, in this case, to open each gallery in a new window.

My 2 cents.

Cheers!

reloads indeed ARE important. i prefer to load galleries in the same window, sites with popups piss me off, if i want to load a link in a new window i'll goddamn hold down CTRL before i click it!

I load all my links in the same window, as soon as they are at one of my refferred sites i want them to buy, not to be pissed off about a popup, i dont mind losing one unique to gain 1 sale!

anyone else feel the same?

Milton 05-03-2002 06:00 AM

i dont get any sales ..shit

Agreed... to all of that.....

I always preferred a new window, just because it makes life better than having to go "back back back back back back etc..."

but then, I'm not in the tgp biz, and I would also assume that getting the reloads and padding your counter rating makes a huge difference later on when you're trying to show someone how much traffic and reloads you get.... no rocket science there.... best to listen to Shemp and other big tgp guys when it comes to doing what's right for productivity.... cuz in my line of work, I tend to make things easy, comfortable, and user friendly since I deal with webmasters and not surfers... and I don't worry about count ratings and such. :winkwink:
