Listen to Piece of my heart by Mellisa Ethridge, I love Joplin, but Mellisa blows her off the stage with her rendition:thumbsup

A very distinct voice..quite the life she had and a tragic loss

Ian 03-24-2006 06:52 PM

Listen to "Move Over" and then give yourself a treat and download Slade's version. :thumbsup

Of course without Janis we would never have had these songs made popular again for others to have made the cover versions.

Gotta give her all the props she earned.:2 cents:

P.S.

Her most famous... "Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz....

Ya gotta hear it. Really.:thumbsup

:2 cents:

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 03-24-2006 07:13 PM

this cd is fantastic, what a voice.

Babagirls 03-24-2006 07:15 PM

her car was on display at The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame years back, i got in trouble for touching it by Security :P

It was really something, to be standing next to/touching the car that was Miss Joplins. She really is amazing and died before her time (like many of that era).

There's no other singer I can think of that even remotely sings like Janis could. She had amazing depth of character and soul to her voice.

Good investment...can't go wrong.
