cus every month they have a choice -

shall i have a nice brand new cable modem installed at $30 a month?

or should i pay to watch and view hotslutsfuckamp.com .

they choose 2nd option.

Jakke PNG 05-02-2002 11:22 AM

Let me just ask this : What kind of a pornographer works on dial-up?

TDF 05-02-2002 11:24 AM

its funny that you guys would mention that.I was reading that almost 1/3 of the american internet household has some sort of broadband connection(cable, dsl, roadrunner) and those numbers are increasing daily. My local cable company offers roadrunner for almost dirt cheap prices$31.00 if you buy the modem and 41 if u rent the modem

I seriously doubt that's a viable hypothesis.... one day of surfing for ANYTHING... even checking out MSNBC.... gets most people hopping up and down for broadband in order to experience streaming video and other stuff you just can't do with dialup... so really, the only possible explanation left after that, is that they're just too damn cheap to pay for it. The "building for 56k users" phase was good for a few years.... but truthfully... everything is built nowdays with little or no regard for the cavemen who can't or won't keep up with current technology.

Next, you'll wanna make websites moron-proof with auto-clicking enabled or something for the people who don't know how to operate a mouse.

There should be at least some level of intelligence expected from surfers..... ya can't cater to every damn fool who just bought a Dell and signed onto AOL. Or, maybe you can.... but then the broadband people get dragged down to dummy level in order to please the newbs......

the 56k people can look at static images.... when they wanna watch feeds... they can buy a fucking real connection.

how the hell do I know?
how come there are people without a computer at all?
how come there are people still using 486 Packard Bells?
how come there are people still using Windows 3.1?

maybe they're stupid?
maybe they're cheap?
maybe they just don't care enough to even know there's anything else out there?

Darren 05-02-2002 11:41 AM

well i dotn think u should chuck away before you have started 60% of your possible members, so taking the atitude "fuck them" cant be good.

Amputate Your Head 05-02-2002 11:42 AM

last year, when I was working for AT&T, I had several people who had ordered a broadband installation..... only to find out, their computers were so old and outdated... they couldn't even accept a network card.... some of the manufacturers didn't even exist anymore.... one guy was still running on pure DOS! 12 inch monochrome monitors.....

I'm telling you.. some people are just plain dumb.

Darren 05-02-2002 11:44 AM

I agree some peopel are fucking morons, for fuck sake some of the retards i get e-mailing me about my member section clarifys that, in fact i would day quite alot of them are, but they are surely our bread and butter - easy stupid surfers?

ldinternet 05-02-2002 11:48 AM

should i exhale after inhaling?

Amputate Your Head 05-02-2002 11:49 AM

well, going back to your original post... I don;t see how having feeds and vids hurts the 56k people.... it only adds to your content for the ones that DO have broadband.... and that's a must have kinda thing nowdays..... if the 56k people can't watch them cuz their connection is too slow... that's really not your problem.. it's theirs..... there's not much you can do about it, unless you wanna buy them a broadband connection.... but I don't see how providing that type of content causes them to have a bad experience or anything.... the slow speed of dialup is something they chose and simply have to deal with. And I think most people that are on dialup understand they aren't able to watch vids..... :winkwink:

There's still a lot of people who simply can't get a broadband connection. DSL just got to my part of the world last December, and I am not in the boonies somewhere.

I know plenty of people who live in areas where there is no DSL or cable option. So they're stuck on 56k.
