I actually prefer an AR over an AK.

I've got both

I actually prefer the SKS to both.. For one it's not stamped parts like the AK so it doesn't rattle as much, it also fires the same round as the AK which has way more stopping power than an AR-15's .223 round

As far as handguns I'll stick with my series 70 combat commander, Sam Colt is the only way to do .45. :2 cents:

I'll eventually have both. For now my AR is enough. I still have far too many other pistols and shotguns I want before I get an AK.

Sure that isn't available to civs? There was the same thing that had just gotten into the shop one day and everyone was playing with it. The back of the grip comes off, and it had three different types to pop on. Pretty freakin sweet!

I saw it on Shooting USA last week and it said the civilian models werent available yet. Might have been an old show tho.

i just picked up an ultra carry II a couple weeks ago. i fucking love this gun. comfortable to carry and shoots incredibly accurately.

The SKS is the plinkers version of the AK. There's also the big issue of stamped vs. milled receivers on both sides; AK still makes SKS look like a pellet gun in comparison! Either way; AR15 is nice but not that great; M16 is why we lost 'nam. I love my AK! Not to mention the 7.62x35mm round was designed to allow the weapon to retain more energy than the average 7.62 NATO Subsonic round. The round averaged about 330 meters per cycle and the average energy transferred was around 778 Joules plus it was designed to "keyhole" upon contact; instead of burrowing straight into a generally speaking soft target (aka human) upon contact it expands delivering max kenetic energy transfer but it also starts flipping end over end delivering a shredding like wound channel. This increased the damage inflicted. When was the last time you heard of a serious combatant taking an SKS into a fight? Our troups still put their american weapons on the back strap in preference to a true AK. The good man Kalashnikov has invented his vodka in the same fassion he did his weapons. A simple and effective means to a certain end. "My aim was to create armaments to protect the borders of my motherland. It is not my fault that the Kalashnikov became very well known in the world, that it was used in many troubled places. I think the policies of these countries are to blame, not the designers.". Nuff said. I stand by my weapons.

Our country when first started required citizens to have on hand at least one military grade rifle and ample munitions to defend itself against a tyrannous and otherwise foul government. I do not beleive that such standards should be sacraficed. We may not all intend or do good. But those of us who do; have every right to stand by our family and friends... whatever the situation may be. This is the foundation of our country; and as much shit as we've been ripped through... the majority of us are still good. I will not march onto foreign soil for a cause I do not beleive in; but bring the fight to my beach and I'll be the first one there.

If you really need justification look back to WWII; when the united council asked why after bombing pearl harbour we were not invaded considering we were quite open to attack the response was simple... the vast majority of households own several firearms; a good number of which are of military grade. A land invasion would have been hopeless.

Form your own ideals; I simply will not hand over my ability to stand for what I feel is right and true. Abused as this privilege may be; I am not willing to sacrafice the ability to defend what I hold to be true for anyone, anytime, anywhere.
