Google Updating....they don't do it near as often as they need to

I just don't get it....yahoo and msn both track changes in page titles in a day or so, google ALWAYS takes forever on most of my pages...some get updated very quickly, and most not

I have had my new design up for almost 3 weeks now, and google hasn't tracked any of the changes

annoying shit

CyberHustler 03-23-2006 11:21 AM

No Shit..thanks For The Sig Spot Though

FrameShifter 03-23-2006 11:21 AM

Make a sitemap, and ping them. Within a couple of hours it should be updated.

u-Bob 03-23-2006 11:31 AM

I will try that, thanks!

Truth of the matter is that Google is losing the SE battle. They are slow as shit to get rid of spam, their top listings for most adult and non-adult keywords are either spam sites or paid listings, and many of those listings just go to useless "information" sites that are nothing more than a front door to more adwords and adsense ads.

The public is catching on... expect to see their traffic on the way down in the next 6 months.

I updated robots.txt to reject all spidering around four months ago. the site's still in google. :(

yeah, but while traffic will be down, everyone will still have to consder optimizing and submitting to them as long as we are alive...they may fade a little, but they won't ever go away

Google still makes up for 53% of my search engine traffic

Google overwhelms the average user. If they don't change, the public will.

i've made sitemap using google's scripts, and at the pinging, google has told me that sitemap files are not readable?! wtf?! they are more stupid then they look like! :(

jjjay 03-23-2006 12:37 PM

people have been saying "google will fall" for the past two years. if anything, they've got stronger. success stories always have their naysayers, and 99.9% of the time those naysayers are completely wrong.

Manowar 03-23-2006 12:43 PM

google is full of crap nowdays

nexcom28 03-23-2006 12:54 PM

I notice that if you do a search for a keyword like sex you find that instead of the websites you would expect to find you come across government sites and the like. Google sucks at the moment.

nexcom28 03-23-2006 12:55 PM

I would like to point out that although Google sucks, I still use them...

There's a reason for that - 'sex' although 'mostly' used by adult, can be a very sincere search by a child or a granny. Some people are looking for valid information on sex and not necessarily images. For this reason, since it's a 'blanket' term, they've probably boosted points manually to government/educational informational sites in order for them to show up on top and the porn sites much further down.

*that's my logic to it*

Trixxxia 03-23-2006 01:03 PM

Actually my search results show Playboy.com as 3rd :) *there goes my logic* hehehe
*when in Filtered though, it's not there & my logic stands* LMAO

xclusive 03-23-2006 01:06 PM

Microsoft is the future:)

madpayzz 03-23-2006 01:09 PM

1) M$ sucks
2) google is only slow because they have to update every single page everywhere, its quite impossible since all the servers arnt extremly fast so it slows the whole process down. :(

kenny 03-23-2006 01:12 PM

If I'm really trying to research something I find it far better these days with MSN

Google has these spamming redirection links that drive me crazy when doing searches.

They disable the back button and shit.

cool1 03-23-2006 01:34 PM

Google does sort of suck right now, but they are still sending traffic, although not nearly as much as I would like.
