i am listening to him now, what a fantastic drummer, he would have to be one of the best.

He was and still it's the best... Channel One Suite blows my head off.

Absolutely, but every drummer from the swing era on owes Gene Krupa for changing the music world as we know it.

Absolutely, but check "Sing, Sing, Sing"´s version on the Buddy Rich VS Max Roach album... that's quite an improvement on Krupa's style :pimp!!

Guy, he died almost 20 years ago.

...and he would have been 88.

Yup. Check out some of the movies about him. He was a big time perfectionist. I used to have some of those old sound clips where he would go off on his players.
