i think this is the bast way to convert mpg to real streaming

windows media is superior in quality to realmedia. Plus almost all computers come with windows media player built in so they do not have to download anything.

do you have access to the uncompressed digital video (assuming your video was shot in minidv format)?

windows media is definitly the way to go. Besides, the media encoder is free from Microsoft.

drunk monkey replied pretty much as i would. besides real is a slut of a media player.. tries to take over your whole system with it's crap (yes as all players do) but this one is more invasive and constantly tries to upsell you to realplayer gold..

real used to be ok back in the day.. but theres not much point with windows media installed on every new PC.. i'll have to dig another thread up..

a Real streaming server is a LOT more expensive tham a WMP one too. even though i first mucked around with streaming with real when i started.. and i liked their flash integration and SMIL stuff.. and i've done work with Real in the last year with adult products for their gold pass area.. i wouldn't actually use them.. mpeg downloads or WM streams..

If file size is the issue, then go with real media. You can compress them slightly more than mpegs, and the quality is pretty much the same.

You gotta turn the mpegs into AVIs before real-producer will convert them. Use virtualdub to do this.
