Arafat's outrage at Church of Nativity fire
Yasser Arafat has branded the Israelis Nazis and racists over their part in the fire at the Church of the Nativity.
After Israeli tanks lifted their siege of his Ramallah headquarters, soldiers who have been holed up with him for a month have left the compound.
Arafat who has been confined to the headquarters since December, said events at the Church were 'unforgivable'.
"It's an ugly crime," said Arafat, adding: "I call on the international community to take immediate measures in the face of this horrendous crime. Those terrorists, Nazis and racists, how can we tolerate them after committing this crime?"
Arafat went on, "I don't care if this room I'm sitting in blows up. What concerns me is what is happening at the Church of the Nativity. This is a crime that cannot be forgiven."
He told reporters: "Go away, all of you. Go and tell the world about this crime. don't talk to me."
The Palestinian leader was whisked away by his aides, who then asked the journalists to leave.
The fire erupted at the besieged Church of the Nativity, one of Christianity's holiest shrines, during an exchange of gunfire with Israeli soldiers firing flares.
The 300 Palestinians who had been with Arafat in his compound for a month were pleased at the deal which signalled they could finally leave the headquarters. It meant moving six wanted Palestinians from Arafat's office to a jail in the West Bank town of Jericho, where they will be watched over by American and British wardens.
The Palestinians hugged and kissed each other and made calls to their relatives assuring them of their safety.

both sides are blaming the other at the moment..
also the church is covered with israeli snipers they can't show their heads without being popped like the guy the other day... i suppose the snipers sat around and watched them go on the "outside" as you say, of the church and light fires..
if i had to bet i'd bet it's the israelis.. though not neccessarily on purpose.. they can't afford to offend the christians..
