Asshat hits my jeep.
 

So last Friday, this asshat on a dirtbike hit the side of my jeep. He says he just found the bike, and has no idea who it belongs to. He got "arrested". Meaning they gave him a citation and told him to go to court.

I got an estimate yesterday. $1214.02

My insurance wont cover it. After I paid off the Jeep I switched to liability and uninsured motorist. My agent failed to inform me that uninsured motorist only covered bodily injury and not property damage.

So I call Mr. Asshat, to make arragnements to get my $. He has decided he's going to pay me when he is damn good and ready. So before the conversation is over he tells me he's heading over to whip my ass. He never shows. A keyboard warrior in real life.

This morning I look him up in the Iowa Judical System. Seems he's on probation. He's been in trouble since 1995. Everything from forgery to possession. They are going to violate his probabtion and put him back in jail.

I'll never see my $. :(

At least he'll get thrown in jail.

Geeze it sucks that someone else damages your property but you have to foot the bill. Well if he is going back to jail at least he is not getting off completely unpunished.

Yea, I already talked to his probabtion officer this morning. Doing everythign I can to make sure something happens to him. And then I'm going to go see him on visiting day. I want to make sure he knows I pushed the issue.

I had the same with a guy who bought a car from me, he was a doctor even, he owns me 2k and is in jail, the last time I saw anything was like $10 about 8 yrs ago

It would appear that our judicial system is not designed to compensate the victims.

They should put people like him to work behind bars to pay off the damages they owe. I'm talking legit work. None of this 15 cents an hour doing laundry bullshit.

put full coverage back on it. wait a month. call your insuarance company and tell them you walked out to your jeep and found this.

or just fork over the grand and bite the bullet

take his ass to small claims court when he gets out of jail, have court papers and a court date waiting on his ass for when his pathetic ass clears the jail gates. Either get money or dudes property.

put him back to jail, he deserves to rot even if he pays you with all the damages

That sucks. Even if you take him to small claims court ... who says he'll even show up.

Back where I grew up, we had other ways of handling these kinds of people.

Yea, I've had a few different thoughts on it.

fine if he doesnt show up its a default judgement and u get whatever property he has. show up at his house with the sheriff and the papers and take his computer, take his dirt bike.. whatever.
