The virus from your email!!
I'm sure many of you already know this - but for the brainiacs out there who don't understand it yet - let me put it "TO LIGHT" in your brain for ya...
There is a virus that goes around, and sets itself to be "usually" from someone that you know. Lately it seems to be stemming itself from my personal email address- and sending it out. So, after a little research this is what I found. The virus can go into anyone's email box, and pick an email address from that persons address book, and begin sending itself out as that address. In other words, people are receiving emails from (currently MY personal address), and they are people who do not know me, asking why I am sending them email. CLUE IN - check the properties of that email, and see who the Return Path is from, or the generating IP - it's not ME. Chances are if you don't know by now not to open attachments that contain .zl9, or .z something, or an .html file (which propegates all your address book anyway) - if you don't know about viruses by now, and you don't know how to check a return path email - most likely you are the person who doesn't have virus protection, or know about cleaning your computer either. I've received so many emails over the past week, and when they have attached the email, I ask - did you look at the return path - every single one of them was NOT FROM ME! This board was appropriate to post this on since you just want to tell them - "Get some brains, or go fuck yourself!!" A little venting since I'm tired of ignorant people! http://www.lookingatyou.com/gfy.jpg |
I am getting the same damn thing! I had a domain name that someone started using the email addy and sending viruses. I got tons of hate email from that. They used the "reply to" feature.

I get the same crap email everyday.
And of course being me, I opened one and vola virus city. And even more stupid no virus protection. My first infection in 4 years. Must have bin good pot I was smokin that day. :stoned But the good thing is I have no email addresses in my address book . I keep them in my head, that way nobody got burned. So to the pricks that gave me the virus :Grrrrrr :321GFY |

A virus protection, as well as something like ZoneAlarm Pro which protects your incoming email as well....I know, I had a really bad virus a few years back, and am protected now so that hopefully that will not ever happen again... |
I have recently been suffering a similar problem with the E-mails but this one was slightly different.
It searched my site and harvested the E-mail addresses from my forums, it then began to send E-mails from the addresses on the board to the others on the board. Real nasty! :BangBang: |
Yet another reason to stop using Microsofts crappy Outlook and Outlook Express. Anyone who uses either Outlook is almost begging to get a virus. Try Changing to a nice safe email client like Eudora or Pegasus.

ever. of course, I don't open attatchments from no girls named "wilds" either. :winkwink: |
The virus picks up email adresses from the webpages
in the infected surfers cache/temp folder |
yeah Triss your right. It's pretty irritating all those damn viruses.
My advice to everybody is:DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS! Peace out, dr Gonzo |
I have Norton's - the point I was making here is that the virus didn't come from me, it just looks like it did - my computer is free and clear...
my temp/cache is also cleared every day as well, so that is not where it came from. It was picked up from another person's computer, found my name in there address book, and started sending itself out to everyone in HIS address book. This has nothing to do with me except the fact it looks like it came from me, until you look at your return path. I'm sure I am not the only person getting bombarded with a bunch of viruses lately - am I?? |
How do you guys filter this shit ?
I haven't found a good solution yet and all this shit makes me mad :helpme http://www.ntsecurity.net/Panda/Inde...s&VirusID=1156 |

filter it out on the server with the following: http://www.impsec.org/email-tools/pr...-security.html It takes a little effort to setup, but it catches most of the viruses that come in before they ever make it to our employees machines. |
I have the solution: Norton Antivirus + I never EVER open an attachment no matter whom it's from.

Some of us people get lots of e-mail with file attachments of different sorts.
My crazy g/f wanted to tell the girl with the pic to pierce her pussy only hurts for a minute.. |
don't break on me she made me type it..

I have anti-virus software installed on my (personal) email server -- which filters the virii out before they reach my desktop... in the past few days, I've received hundreds of infected emails. Now... something new started today... same thing as you're experiencing. I'm getting bounce messages & people emailing me saying I sent them a virus. Of course... the return headers state otherwise -- but this is really frustrating. I'm not really sure how to combat this -- any ideas? |
