phpBB Mass-hack being Prepared?
 

Article reads like engrish but read it anyway if ur running a phpbb forum:

During the last few days a bot using a name FuntKlakow, has been registering to at least hundreds (maybe thousands) of phpBB forums. Next time the phpBB announces a critical vulnerability, the bot would have everything ready from attacking thousands of sites/forums.

But most on most forums the bot keeps silent. Ok, what is a danger? Next time the phpBB announces a critical vulnerability, the bot would have everything ready (just a post click away) from attacking thousands of sites/forums.

Just found that user on a phpBB I run... killed it and disallowed it. Ugh.

Just put any human-test mod on your reg form to protect your board.

I have written bots like that for other reasons..

Infact i built a php version called namereserve so a person can register there nicks on thousands of forums so it doesnt get taken before they find the forum.

the phpbb hacks is the whole reason I switched over to Invision Powerboard.
